Round 8 - Dogs at Marvel

Just spoke to Justin Longmuir in Onslow, apparently Carlton, Melbourne, Bulldogs, Collingwood, Geelong, West Coast as double ups and I forgot the other one coz I remembered I was talking to the man himself

That’s 6, which as many was we’d have. Those are pretty good double ups for us

Edit: it’s 2 from the top middle and bottom 6 which is about the best we could get being middle ourselves. The only one that I’d expect to improve from 2025 is the dogs and we beat them twice.

That checks out doesn't it.

So unless they give us a home game in round 3 it looks like this

Round Zero - not playing
Round 1 - away due to Asian Cup
Round 2 home Melbourne
Round 3 Away
Round 4 Away against Adelaide
Rond 5 Gather Round against Collingwood.

1 home game in the first 5

I reckon round 3 will be the derby

Carlton and Melbourne hopefully are MCG games.

Dees wouldnt dare to send us to the Alice Springs again after the flogging we dished them up there in 2024 😛

Now that I replay the conversation in my head, I swear he also said Adelaide is a double up and we’re playing them Friday night week before Gather Round.

Which makes 7 double ups, unless there’s 6 + West Coast?

So it sounds like the following:

Round 0 - N/A
Round 1 - Away vs ???
Round 2 - Melbourne @ Optus = Win

Round 6 - West Coast @ Optus= Win
Round 7 - Carlton @ Optus = Win
Round 8 - Dogs @ Marvel = 50/50
Round 9 - ???
Round 10 - ???
Round 11 - Saints @ Optus = Win

You forgetting the last time we had a Derby after 2 away games?

Freomaniac thoughts? You're one who has stuck true to the "I'd just be happy to see Freo make repeat finals" mantra. Does the wildcard implementation alter that thought process in any way?
Well.... You tagged me....

Let's talk about this wild card finals system.

Does finishing dockers finishing 10th and facing a 7th placed side count as a final? Yes it does apparently.

So yeah 10th spot equals a finals spot.
He's just happy there's more freo games so he can bet on the opposition.
You better pray I don't win the 50 million dollar powerball on Thursday.

You also better pray dockers don't make the 2026 AFL Grand final as well if I win the lottery.

If some random person puts $5 to 10 million dollars on Freo to lose that grand final, you know it will be me lol

Love how people blame afl for no games in Perth , but the blame lies with the Matilda’s playing at Optus oval , nothing to do with afl

But I must say I not a fan of opening round , but do understand the attempt to get more focus on nsw and qld fans to get the game to continue to grow

Sounds like Hawks are coming here again.

Only played them once in Melbourne in the past 12 years.

Always seems to be Tassie or Perth
