The laughable thing is we lost our final so ended up in the "middle" draw which is suppose to be easier, the same as last year. How did Brisbane get an easy one?

I do think our double ups are pretty good and might not improve.

Geelong - Got belted in GF so expect them to drop. I still think we lose our first game vs them due to opening round.
Adelaide - Unknown but wouldn't be the first team to dip after a long stint out of finals. 50/50
Bulldogs - Flakey and didn't improve their defence. Beat them twice last season. 50/50
Carlton - Got worse over offseason but set-up future.
Dees - Got worse over offseason but set-up future.
WC - lol

The AFL has given GC a leg up so its GWS's turn in 2026. Its a ****ing joke.

The first rounds sucks, but no excuses with this draw. I'd say it is a 17-6 draw when considering which team would be the favourite on paper at this point in time. Teams with that record finished 2nd in 2025, 1st in 2024, equal 2nd/3rd in 2023.

We'll probably lose some we should win, and vice versa, but we should be aiming for top 2. And I'd be extremely disappointed not to finish top 4.

Yeah, looks like we've been stitched up by that again. We'll be coming in cold against Geelong in R1, whilst they'll be humming after a game against the Suns.
Anywhere. Anytime. Now is when our window opens. Let's stop the whining. Stop the excuses. We got a prime time slot in gather round. We only have TWO Sunday games against the shi*iest teams in the league. Gone our the late Sunday afternoon games. Stop complaining.

This is where we need to own it. Our list is as good as it's going to get. It's do or die time. Either we do or it or we don't. I can't wait for the season to begin!

I just noticed that there isn't even a game in WA for round 1. What's happened to Optus?
Some soccer thing. Logical thing would've been to have all teams play opening round to give us our home game. I seriously don't understand why it can't just be all teams playing but have the Northern teams host if they're so desperate for that.

Im going to have another vent. We had our last game of the year last year away and again this year? WCE once again get the last game at home. I thought it was meant to alternate every year? We also miss out on the first home game at home?
No team is playing at home in Round 1, unfortunately not the AFL's fault, Asian Cup already booked for that weekend at Optus Stadium. Both of us and West Coast play our first home game Round 2.

Looking at our draw, if we can somehow win that round 1 game against Geelong it really gives us the chance to set up our season. A win there and we could potentially start the year 5-2 or 6-1 depending on what happens in Adelaide

Geelong in Round 1 at Kardinya Park isn't ideal but it's also not a death sentence, this year's outing wasn't the best, but I'd back us over most of the league to beat them there, we're one of the better performers there aren't we?

lol predicting 17-6

With the finals change, i'm happy with top 6.

Women's Asia Cup semi final.
Are they going to fill it? I recon that could be played at HBF Park with 20K unless Australia is in it. I also looked it up, it's listed as 17th of March which is a Tuesday. Surely they could play a game on the Friday/Saturday of the weekend and be ready for that game.

Gotta love it when the State government kicks out the sport bankrolling the whole stadium for single events.

Literally only the Matildas playing will make it worthwhile holding at Optus.

They better hope for that

The other positive that's not been mentioned is no 10am Western time bouncedown. I get that east coast folks don't understand the concept of jet lag, but I can't think of a single first quarter in the last 7-8 years in one of those early starts where we haven't looked half asleep.

Only early one is an 11:10 bouncedown vs the Bombers in Round 10 and if we can't beat them under any circumstances then we are not going deep into finals.

For mine, it's the big difference to the game at Kardinia in Rd 1, at least the bouncedown is later in the day.

Great fixture overall for us.
Bit bizarre starting a game in Perth on March 28th at 1.15pm. Could be 40 deg!

Dont matter whom we play. we should try to win every game and venue.

When we can compete with the best with short turnarounds between games. inexpericence on MCG or other grounds.

No matter the odds. then we know we are heading to a GF and a premiership

While we make excuses , some which maybe very real, we will continue to accept mediocrity. Dontblame the AFL, the UMPRIES etc. Own our mistakes and overcome all adversities thrown at us

Become a champion club despite the negatives.
