Oh gee....Early observations:
Double ups: Carlton, GWS, Sydney, Port Adelaide, GC, Richmond
The bad
Lots of travel in the 1st half of year.
Adelaide in Adelaide again. By some miracle. Not sure we’ve played them in melb since 2019.
The good
no double ups against the really strong sides. So probably a reasonable balance.
3 games at the G
Inclusion in opening round
No travel from Rd 14 onwards
I wonder if we asked for double up like that. The double ups are good, the no travel after the King's birthday is good, the extra MCG game is good.
The trip to Geelong is meh for me, but Geelong is closer to home than Marvel for me too.
Consecutive games in Adelaide AGAIN? I mean, that Adelaide game is the very definition of a schedule loss. Also we don't play Adelaide in Melbourne for a seventh consecutive season.
It would have to be in the context of "St Kilda are travelling to Adelaide twice regardless". Then we would have asked them to be back to back.I wonder if we asked for double up like that.
Suits me. Gather Round Game with Port. Then I just have to see if I can get tickets for the Crows Game. If so I will stay over a week and do attend both games.. Don't hate the Adelaide double up, just stay there and get two interstate games out of the way.
NAS will approveAnother little quirk I just noticed is we have the first of two byes in Round 4, directly preceding our two weeks in Adelaide for Rounds 5 & 6.
Idk if you're mostly joking, but "brutal schedule" seems a bit dramatic. Aging Pies should be a win, Dees is definitely a win, GWS is not the juggernaut they used to be and aging (we shouldve beaten them last year with 4-5 less pieces and a Toby Greene miracle), Lions is probably a loss, Port are worse than they were last season, Crows will be a loss in Adelaide, and then WCE at Marvel will be a win and Carlton are pretty winnable too?Oh gee....
I specifically dreaded.
A brutal schedule in the first 8 weeks, when the ladder takes shape, and after the truck has run us down, flat as a pancake, spirit in a coma- a series of low-stakes games at Marvel in twilight to finish the season with aa 'wet sail'. May as well be the HMVS Cerebus.
Another 2 weeks of getting to watch the saints in a row like last year is great for me!. Port fans are usually only feral online or towards their own coach bahahBTW, I am planning to go to the Port game. I've been to three Port games in Adelaide, never any issues with fans, never any issues with getting tickets.
I’m pissing myself at this
Allows NAS to have a fortnight in Adelaide with his family.2 weeks in a row in Adelaide lol, against both Adelaide teams
So do we. Both in Melbourne on the Sunday, Perth on the Friday.Freo have a 5 day break as well for our clash against them
That's not to bad then. Equal for both clubsFreo have a 5 day break as well for our clash against them
