COLLINGWOOD

Dan Houston underwent a minor procedure on his hip that will see him held back for full training until at least January. He will be on a modified program for at least the first few weeks. Dan McStay’s shoulder issue that saw him undergo surgery in early October had plagued him in the back-half of the season will sideline him from contact training until late January, with the forward commencing a running and weight program upon his return. Tew Jiath (quad/hip) and Reef McInnes (ACL) will continue their rehab programs, while star midfielder Scott Pendlebury – whose calf spelled the end of his campaign minutes into the preliminary final – is expected to be training fully on day one of pre-season.

I wonder when Dan's hip started being a problem.

No mention of Harvey. Or Beau who has been wearing a moon boot since the season ended.

Or Nick with his knee and foot niggle.
Starting to feel like half the team has been carrying a niggle or two.
They always say that by the end of the season half the team are carrying some niggle.

Harvey was in full training at the end of the season. Not sure about beau

Feels like very little to be excited about for next season at this point

Is this a serious comment?

If it is, you should immediately give up footy and start watching lawn bowls.

Right here in the furthest point from next year this seams great. No off field stuff. Players we suspected were struggling are getting surgery. I struggled with the output of McStay and Houston. There are no knee issues and no long term problems which lead to loss of games in 2026. Everything in the report makes us better in 2026. Why no Naicos?

Is it me or did we have an in-ordinate number of foot/lower leg injuries this year? Could the surface at the KGM Centre be a contributing factor?
No. Beau's foot injury was reported as being caused by his foot being stepped on.

Frankly, the idea that grass surfaces might be a cause of chronic injuries because of their degree of hardness is absurd.

Considering marathon runners run on roads a hell of a lot, I think you're right sidey. Grounds are not an issue

I think we proved you wrong years ago through weight of uninformed speculation about our training facility.

Beau's injury was sustained during a game this year. He's been in a moonboot since the season ended.

Not saying that you can't get yourself an overuse injury if you ran exclusively on grass, but it won't be because of the surface.

I'd imagine a rather large percentage of an AFL player's volume running is done on a treadmill anyway.

Greek lawns are tough to run on.
