We should be used to this by now, this has been happening for years.
Then all of a sudden they are selected to play out of the blue then breakdown first game back.
It’s a Port Adelaide tradition.
Getting beyond a joke these days.
Should’ve been Port not the crows who are doing a forensic investigation into repetitive soft tissue injuries.

But, nah! Keep it in house/best practice etc etc. Wouldn’t change a thing. Stability the key to success. 🫩

Didn’t Butters have nerve damage from an injury? He’s still going fine.
2021 did sydesmosis, then halfway through the rehab nerve damage in the affected leg. instead of the typical 6-8 weeks for the syndesmosis he missed i think 12 weeks due to the nerve damage, needed to have another surgery. Similar siutation as Rozee

Didnt they **** with that in the changes as well?
Yes, can't have more picks than open list spots. Apparently to stop stock piling. Which still affects bids for father son and academies because how does it work when you'd have to delist or trade players out to still try and have 2 picks for 1 player in case of matching bids. Imagine having to remove 4 players on to open 4 spots just to have 4 picks and it only gets 2 players. If that is how I'm interpreting their new ridiculous rules.

What’s the point of drafting just because of injuries? Yeah if someone we want is there go for it but I don’t understand the want to have our list taken up by a ridiculous amount of mid season draft picks just because we had injuries in a meaningless season.

If there was a player on a 6 month nomination, who was fit enough and skilful enough to fill a short term need, I can see the justification - pick player X to cover Rozee or Sinn until they are back next year.

Problem is, I think most of the decent players who fit that bill nominate for 18month contracts and would be surplus to needs come draft time.

The national draft has the best depth of talent. I agree, the main recruiting should come from there. Unlike Port, where over 20% of the list are speculative SSP or midseason draft picks (some good, some not so)

Looking ahead

We expect to come out of the bye with Lachie Jones and Jack Lukosius returning, with Miles Bergman a few weeks behind them. Sam Powell-Pepper is close to playing football again which will have a major positive impact on our playing group, let alone all of us who just love what Pep brings to our club.

Luko will probably have a run in the magpies first.
