Alright everyone, we've got all our new toys - now the big question remains: where do they get put in the locker room?

Due to the 2025 exits, the following numbers are available: #7, #10, #11, #17, #18, #19, #27, #40.

And the following players are coming in:
  • Judd McVee
  • Adam Sweid
  • Tobyn Murray
  • Leon Kickett
  • Toby Whan
  • Ryda Luke
  • Mason Cox

So who gets what, and is #7 retired for a season or two ala #29 and #16 previously? And are there going to be any number shuffles from existing players?

Previous jumper numbers from our new players in 2025:

  • Judd McVee #4 (Melbourne)
  • Toby Whan #5 (South Fremantle Colts)
  • Leon Kickett #9 (Swan Districts)
  • Adam Sweid #23 (Calder Cannons)
  • Mason Cox #46 (Collingwood)
  • Ryda Luke #49 (South Fremantle Colts)
  • Tobyn Murray #61 (Geelong Falcons)

I'm hoping Hayden Young wants to step into the #7.

My take:
  • #7 temporarily retired (or saved for Lucas Robinson🤌)
  • #17 is a bit cursed not sure I want to see anyone in that
  • Judd McVee #18 a true defenders number
  • Adam Sweid #10 - if not temporarily retired, I think Sweidy will do the number justice. I really hope Sonny gets a role and helps out Sweidy, will be enormous for him.
  • Leon Kickett #11 obvious reasons
  • Toby Whan - really needs to be #1. Sam Sturt should be handing it over.
  • Ryda Luke 🤷
  • Mason Cox - he's tall and wears goggles and is American so I feel he can be any high number
  • Tobyn Murray 🤷

The question isn't whether no.7 is retired temporarily. It's whether no.10 gets the same treatment.
With all due respect to Sonny, he's not in the same category as Pavlich, Mundy or Fyfe.

None of McPharlin, Sandilands, Johnson, McManus, Parker, Hill or Hasleby had their numbers retired. Such a tradition should be saved for the absolute elite.

Dale Kickett wore no.11 for Freo. It'd be cool Leon wore his number.

Think Mason Cox might want no.46 which is fine because no one else will.

I think the fact that they retired at the same time means it will. If it had’ve been a year apart, maybe not.

But I agree. Sonny is up there, but not in the same league as Pav, Mundy and Fyfe.

61 for Tobyn Murray

From F&F Bruce probably would've preferred to change numbers, I don't think he will as he likely respects it was given to him after Mundy

Could he follow in the footsteps of Pendles and go 16 to 10 though, our own Emblebury

History says 7 stays unused for a couple years. I think 10 will find it's way to an indigenous player. Wouldn't be surprised if Bolton changes numbers.

McVee (and maybe the american) will have first dibs and the rest will be handed out in order of draft pick as per usual.

#7 - Vacant
#10 - Vacant
#11 – Heart says Kickett, head says McVee
#17 - Sweid
#18 - Whan
#19 - Murray
#27 - Luke
#40 – Kickett, moving to 10 if he lives up to his potential
#45/6 - Cox

Only member of the current list I could see making a change is Erasmus, but I've predicted that the last couple years as well.

Mason Cox #46
