I’ve just logged in to check mine and it looks like they’ve reverted my membership from interstate to 6 game home….thats pretty useless for me in Qld

Have they changed the rules on what membership you have to have to be a Social Club?

I had the interstate last year with it with no issues

Paid mine as well yesterday, they weren't sure why the cost had risen so much this year so it must be Ticktec price gouging again

Why would Ticketek be responsible, the Dogs and AFL set the price.
Also Marvel based clubs use Ticketmaster.

Got the ticket companies mixed up (both rip off the public) but when I paid the club didn't know why my Lv 2Gold membership had gone up $199 so there must be someone else involved in the pricing

Aren’t the people you talk to just call centre staff who work for all clubs?

My Silver reserved seat membership with social club went up $30 to $690.
You need a sensible explanation from the Club if yours went up by so much.
Don’t be fobbed off.

I called the club with the same question and got told my interstate membership was now called a home membership…. Not confusing at all, but looks like interstate now sits within long distance options under the umbrella of a home membership. Must be why it went up by $105, as I didn’t even get a game in my state this season and who knows for next year.

So they’ve done the exact opposite of what I asked them to in the survey.

It’s a rort whichever way you look at it

You would think they’d be doing things to help long term members, but no, it’s all about the $5 one game memberships at the end of the year to boost the figures and make us look like a powerhouse.

I honestly don’t need 5 Melbourne games, to be honest, I probably don’t even need a Qld game as I usually take clients on the rare occasion its in Qld and don’t even use my seat

I’ll have to call them and see what they can do. Not sure I can justify another $105 a year for maybe 1 game

Not sure we will ever play in Kiev

I did join big footy when based in Kiev, hence the username I’ve never bothered to update 😂
But I’m no longer based that far west- around 40 years of supporting the dogs and been a member for 20+ years in SA. For me a membership is really to support the club as I rarely get full use of match access, but at the same time it’s hard to understand a $105 increase without any reason or increase in benefits.
E.g. I’d happily have gather round match access only as I always purchase better seats if attending a game in Melbourne anyway (worked really well for Rd 24 vs Freo 😏🤮)

Not keen on the auto-renewal being implemented so early. I don't have a problem with the auto-renewal for the set and forgetters, but it's a bit like a mobile phone plan, we ought to review them every couple of years to ensure that the package that we are on is the best fit. The auto-renewal should not be implemented until at least four weeks after the AFL does the fixture release in order to give members a chance to digest the fixture. The current system rips money off members before they can make an informed decision based upon the next seasons game dates/times and venues. I asked not to be auto-renewed this year and so far they haven't. I will renew my membership via phone to the club once the fixture is actually released.

I agree. My membership rolled over today. My own fault, since I didn't read the fine print in the email from the club, i.e., it rolls over unless an alternative is arranged. But the annoying thing is that I have opted out of automatic rollover on several occasions in the past, and I was irked that somehow I got sucked back in without my knowledge.

I was told by the club that automatic rollover is linked with online renewal - it's just how the system works. Glad I got an explanation, but I would have preferred to know this beforehand.

(And I somehow became a '5-game home member'. I'm lucky if I can get to one game a year in Perth, so what do I do with access to 4 games I can't attend- and which could actually be the reason for the increased membership fee?)

Handy tip: best renew over the phone if automatic rollover is not a good option.

can you get a refund if it auto renewals? I'm going to live overseas and won't be attending. I told them this last year over the phone but they still took it out of my back account this year.

Any advice would be appreciated

The guy on the phone today offered a refund without me even asking for one. He said it had been processed while we were still on the phone, and that I should get it in 3 - 5 working days. The club are usually pretty good at refunds, so I wouldn't expect any hassle if you just ask for one.
