Preview 2026 MSD Draft Prospects

Bit bummed still we didn't pull the trigger on Thredgold when it was pretty easy to guess a Lisfranc/surgery would scupper his season and take Bamert. He's going to be a ripper for Port.

Ah well. Hopefully Griffin goes well for us now.

Well we were basically looking at Blamires or Becker at the time, so likely would've just added Becker as well.

We look at defenders - That's a Forward!
Look at forward - That's a defender!
Look at a tall forward - Ruck for you buddy.
Small forward? - Rebounding half back.

Regardless, I'm all in on him.

Lol. It's not unheard of for players to excel in other positions than where they were drafted like Blake Hardwick.
I don't quite get the angst. Watching Dees Jason Taylor draft wrap vid and the key defender they drafted in the MSD had only played there the last 18 months in the SANFL after being a key forward in their draft year.
I think recruiters are more focused on the attributes they may be able to bring to that role.

Time to re-name our VFL program the "North Melbourne Footy Factory". That's now 5 that have made it onto AFL lists in the last few years - Sellars, Cooper Lord, Trembath, Jack Watkins, Bamert (I have missed any?)

Lynch built a fantastic program, so the discussion that we can't develop players can now be officially closed.

Bamert mentioned it in his interview with AFL.com last night. His manager (can't remember who) encouraged him to go to North VFL because of their development program and because there were 'so many good people there'...

i hope it's more than one though, then again... who the hell needs defenders if we play like that last quarter

Could be that but there was talk we were interested in 200cm Annand taken by Tigers at pick 2.
So perhaps we wanted an athletic genuine kpd height. We could rookie a defender at year end if we want to.
