On a similar note, - East Timor:

• Timor is derived from the Malay word, Timur which means East
• therefore, East Timor translates to East East

On 20 May 2002, East Timor became the first new sovereign state of the 21st century. As part of the process it changed it's name to Timor Leste
- when translated to English, Leste also translates as East

So even after becoming a sovereign nation & a name change, it's still East East
