I've been reflectin and unpacking this, and have come to the realisation that I convince myself that there won't be enough rookies every preseason, so I can justify picking more mid-pricers. NO MORE! I am now changing my mindset. Not only will there be enough rookies next season, there will be TOO MANY. GnR is locked and loaded.

Magic number was about 5300 I think. Walsh 13 games @100.2 so about $530k.

Looks like it was around 5390. Small sample size but looking at two players, Gawn was 5390 and Oliver was 5389.

For anyone who wants to do their own checks, it's a fairly straight forward calculation. Just divide this years starting price by last years average.

I'm gonna try to avoid starting the highest priced (and maybe even the second highest priced) players on each line except perhaps in RUCK. Hopefully get 'em at a lower price during upgrade season

Bont is a lock for sure. Depending on the price and opening fixture I’d definitely consider Callaghan. It seems he’ll have an “away” home game v Richmond in the first month. I guess it just depends on opening round and all the byes

R2 is a problem. I didn't pick Gawn in 2025 because he's "old" (lol), so I'm not doing it next year when he's older. I don't trust Grundy at that price. Meek didn't improve as much as I expected. Briggs is cooked. If TDK gets to the Saints and Marshall leaves, TDK becomes a lock I guess.

Gawn is like Bont, keep picking him until he gives you a reason not too.

I love Finn, but it's a massive injury risk given that his shoulders are quite literally help together by tape. Sure I'll end up talking myself into him by the time Round 1 rolls around though, given I have a well-documented obsession with picking fragile GWS players that inevitably wreck my season lol.

Rozee is an interesting player. Will Carr play him back in the middle or keep him in defence.

I'm not interested unless it's very clear he's playing half back. He's just not quite good enough consistently as a mid imo.

He's looked fine since his return. Reckon with injury prone guys it's better to start them than trade them in.

Pretty sure his shoulders aren't actually "literally" held together by tape either. Reckon you might be exaggerating there.
