I'm not researching on club boards. Got sucked in to the SDK, Perryman and others similar because of training reports on them in "new roles"

Defo need a DPP R3 after carrying Boyd all year.

Have to cut down on uniques as well. If a Bont type gets injured, No hig deal because everyone has him. But 4 or 5 PODs going down is a killer.
To be fair, Boyd played round 1 and no one still knows why he was dropped

It’s been the year of the 2nd-string MID (guess less likely to cop a tag). Wonder if this trend continues

Brayshaw
Suitcase
Richards
Hewett (esp. start of season)

Also the half milli mark seems to be the bottom of the dip (and when form turns around for SPs?). Just some to name a few

Dawson - 498K
Dunks - 505k
Rowell - 464k
Grundy - 504k
NWM - 507k
Sinc - 483k

Even Gawn and Xerri were mid 500k at some stage

all these players were mostly obvious trade in options around their time of bottoming out.. this is what is leading me to take a bit of a different path next year.

dont plan your team. let the trade in options, and various carnage, shape your team.

pick the players you really want. then let the general consensus do the rest. ask the people who didnt start bailey smith this year.. there will be more caleb daniel like options next year also, im sure of it.

great post - if you can nail one like those 4 early you're off to the races. McLuggage hovers around 100 for five years, then bang. Hewett much better than Cripps and Cerra. But the failed 'almost' premos picks on the flipside kill you. If they're going well/ok you hold too long, and miss the premo dip opportunities, if they tank they don't buy you anything.

Just hope I don't start as abysmal next year and have to use every trade possible to fix the team and somehow running out of 40 trades with 6 weeks left lol.
Role over everything and has to be guaranteed, don't want SDK & Perryman types again, and starting 600k plus players has to be a good enough reason eg. No Sheezel types, more akin to rucks only.

My season has taken off since buying quality players in their form dip. Something about form being temporary and class being permanent. If you buy quality it will turn out OK. I'm thinking guys like Dunkley, Sinclair, Heeney who all have proven, lengthy track records of being serious players. They string a few 80s together, tank their price, they haven't STOPPED being awesome, they've just missed a few kicks, given a few frees away, etc.

Absolutely minimise buying guys at $600k (and certainly $650k+), buy the dip and swing your way up to the must-have mega price guys in due course. Bont and A1 ruckmen being possible exceptions, because you KNOW you're going to need them eventually and at least they give you the C option early doors.

Most of my mids were picked with avoiding tags in mind. Besides Daicos and Butters, both were cheap and have enough massive games to make up for the odd game where the tag works.

need someone DPP at flex. it has saved me quite a few times throughout the year.. have hated when its been locked in one position. especially for VC, and sub loops.
I’ve had McCarthy at flex with DPP for 6 weeks. His DPP has been useless.

Because he played like a slower Zaine Cordy. I still have nightmares about him strolling over to a loose ball 15 metres out from goal only for a Crows player to beat him to it and kick a goal.

Sounds like he's right up there with Hustwaite when it comes to complete lack of pace.

That’s a cute captains score. 🙊
Fun Fact: Bontempelli is actually Italian for "Captains Score"

I'm worried that there won't be enough rookies this time around...

:moustache:
I've been reflectin and unpacking this, and have come to the realisation that I convince myself that there won't be enough rookies every preseason, so I can justify picking more mid-pricers. NO MORE! I am now changing my mindset. Not only will there be enough rookies next season, there will be TOO MANY. GnR is locked and loaded.

12 premo GnR:
Clark, Rozee, Jaicos/Martin/Mills
Bont, Butters, Naicos, Sheez/Gulden
Xerri, ???
Rankine, Darcy, Trac/Chad/JHF

Haven't given it much though, but that team looks good. Nas the glaring omission, but he's too pricey at a new club, happy to wait and see.
