As always, rookies will determine structure, but I'm really loving the look of...

D: NWM, Whitfield, Clark, McKercher, rookies
M: Bont, Butters, Rowell, Daicos, rookies
R: Xerri, Grundy, Reidy
F: Sheezel, Flanders, value bin, rookies

Change up whichever premos you want.

I'd love to stretch Hayden Young into that midfield at M5 somehow too.

I'm a big Hayden Young fan as well but I am a bit concerned about his TOG and with the sub rule being scrapped he might even get less time. The same goes with Sheldrick.

NAS, Whitfield, McKercher, Newmannn
Daicos, Callaghan, Gulden, Day, Young
Gawn, Xerri
Sheezel, Trac, Flandersss, Daniels
Bryan
Not sure I can trust Day and Petracca. 1 up 1 down with hopefully a bit left over to get Bont and Butters.

As always, will depend on price point. The pig can score, and he will come in cheap!

My extremely early thoughts.

Locks: Bontempelli. I've seen many people over the years try and justify not picking the Bont and it always backfires. 7 years of 114.7+, last three years he's gone 129.6, 126.3, 130.6 with only 6 score below a ton and only 4 below 90. Just look at his end to last year. 133, 174, 126, 169, 151, 124, 148, 144. Noticed teams tagged Richards over Bont in the back half of the year. The second best SC player ever behind Gaz.

Nick Daicos. Took Daicos on this year and didn't regret it, but as the 9th most expensive player in 2026 I won't do that again. Always the option to get him cheap after a tag but it's too hard to have the timing right to get him imo as he can smash almost any break even. After that round zero disaster he only went under 85 once while hitting 125+ 10 times.

Finn Callaghan. I didn't notice how good this guy was in supercoach until I checked his scores. Rounds 6-24 he only went below once for a low score of 94. Went 115+ 8 times. Think with Oliver coming in and Kelly out for most of the season he can get on the outside more and add regular 2+ goal games to his artillery.

Harry Sheezel. Think passing on him as a fwd is just being cute for the sake of it. Hopefully some more consistency in his role this year, reckon Clarko dicked him around too much this year. Don't think there's anything about Sheezel that we don't already know. Gun.

Errol Gulden. Besides Flanders I think he's the best value in 2026. Don't see any reason he doesn't get back to 111+. Horrible injury, swans season was shot when he was back, will be putting the ball on Curnow's nipples for bulk points.

Sam Flanders. He's the Caleb Daniel / Bailey Smith of next year. Everyone will have him and rightfully so.

Hayden Young. Injury killed his year this year, just a no brainer.

Watchlist. LDU, Petracca, Heeney, Rozee (if dpp), Parish, Darcy, Steele, Fletcher, Mckercher, Mills, Rivers, Houston, Ridley, Wardlaw, Treloar, De Goey, Daniels. She's a big watch list. I think a case could be made for all these blokes to be considered underpriced. Besides my locks and rookies I imagine my team will come from here.

Never again. Tom Stewart. Actually, just anyone from Geelong. Just don't do it to yourself. Having players coached by Chris Scott is SC hell.

Have no idea what I'll do ruck wise. Think one year into the flex position I think the play is three pre rucks from the start. Would've been perfect if Marshall get traded.

Ruck change & the last touch rule change should impact ruck scoring. The question is which rucks does it impact the most? Who gets their scoring from around the ground stoppages (will be less) and who gets their HTA's from wrestling in the center square (grundy... will be less)?

And will the ones that get lots of intercept marks (Gawn, Cameron) be largely unchanged?
