Strategy 2026 Planning Thread

To try and spice up the game again i am imposing certain restrictions upon my team selection for next season.

• Start the season with over $500k in the bank
• Apart from rookies, a maximum of 6 players with ownership of over 10%

Lets see how i go!

I did a rule last year that I wasn't allowed to pick a player in my starting side who was worth over $600k. Ended up ****ing me up hard at the start in the rucks because English had a horror start, but went on a monster run later since I finished my side before everyone else

Nice to hear you finished strongly. I dont expect i will do well with these restrictions but if i get it right i should at least be able to trade hard and finish the season on a bit of a high. That high may well be finishing 30k after dropping to 100k or something like that but im definitely keen for the 'cash in the bank' strategy. Theoretically it just means i have an extra rookie where everyone else has a bonafide gun but with my POD rule i will not be buying many of the top priced assets either so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

I may even add in different restrictions/rules as the season commences to keep the passion alive. No idea what they will be, but perhaps a 2 player max from each team restriction or something along those lines. Given the PODs and cash in bank strategy lends itself to a lot of mid-priced player risks, my team may have chances to do well where others dont but i will need a LOT of luck.

Im just bored of doing the regular thing every season so ill see if i can try and 'force' a bit of differentiation which hopefully will increase enjoyment. I highly doubt ill be anywhere near the top at the end of the season but if i do the strategy well i could definitely finish the game strong with hopefully a slightly elevated chance of taking home a weekly (HA! UNLIKELY!)

Will allow myself one premium from the round 3 bye teams Suns, WB, Hawks, Sydney. Leaning towards Warner as a POD from that Sydney midfield.

Likewise one from round 4 bye GWS and St Kilda. Callahan the obvious pick but actually really like Oliver as POD. Don't envision too many going near him and foresee a big year with a fresh start. Although round 0 probably ruins that as loads will jump on after he goes 120+

But preseason does funny things so who knows.

Big day for us SC kenties. I wonder what new features there will be.

I'm hoping for an eliminator option in leagues, there is a version in EPL SC this year. So the Kent's can do it if they want.

Keen to see how GWS set up their midfield next year. Oliver and Green are pretty similar. Callaghan might go more outside with Kelly out.
