which players were you Able to do those maths on?
do not even have to name names, give us a few of those maths equations and lets see how they stack up
Oh mate I have been perfectly honest with you, fair enough to you I am not aware of their ‘off field’ issues so you clearly have more insight than me into that.
There’s a few blokes from a couple of different clubs in the SFNL who I know have been offered between 5-8 hundred a game. Frankly I’d be surprised if anyone from D3 would be getting that much but if you just have 1 player on 8, and then have 18 games you’ve already blown through $14.4k.
I’ll also just say that I don’t actually have any issues with Donny - always good to see a local club get back up after folding. I’m more worried from the standpoint that they have had troubles before (I’m not 100% sure if it’s once or twice) and I don’t want them to have a repeat.

Appreciat that

I have some strong connections within the club i can categorically tell you numbers like that for d3 players are factually incorrect
there’s a few following the new coach but from what I’ve told one of them is ex noble park & the rest have never been paid to play
8 for a d3 player would be laughed at by the committee
jake the other coach also bringing a few from Pascoe vale who aren’t even getting paid anywhere near 8.
Gotta take what you hear with a grain of salt
This was their issue in the past - buying wins - committee not going down that route any more

That's fine mate, I guess time will tell.
If I'm wrong then that is completely fine - wasn't intending to stir up anything major here (although BF is commonly used for that exact purpose:tearsofjoy:).
Saw they got a bloke from Pascoe Vale who looks quite handy, plenty more to follow, I'm sure. I genuinely wish Donny all the best, it'd be great to see them go from D4 to D1 or 2 in the next 2-3 years.

Doncaster will 100% have the same issues again if nothing changes. They went under for a reason, there is no local kids coming through, if that remains then they’ll go under again, be it in 3 years or 10 years. You can’t survive like that

Well maybe you can if you’re Balwyn, but I doubt they’re competing at that level $ wise.

As for money I’m sure they are splashing it, not easy to go from zero players to 60 so they will need to.

spot on

few things bubbling away from a jnr perspective which is really exciting

U19s on the agenda for 27

Its good That they aren’t ignoring this part of a club

Regarding there re entry if they are able to assemble a list that they believe is above Div 4, given how long it’s taken donvale and your no guarantee to ever win a premiership as seen by Chirnside and donvale this season could they start back in div 3 or is the can already to far down the road and it’s no Div 4 or nothing!

from my understanding its back to d4 or nothing
punishment being start from the bottom

Hypothetically they get to the end of October they are capped out, another 10 guys want in and they can afford it should there be a merit where they can go as high as they can afford?

Very few.

Most of their players, especially the regular senior players, would be hunting a spot on another VFL list as their priority.

A significant number would already have a tie to a club for when they weren't playing VFL so are unlikely to change unless they had no tie to their metro club and were directed there by Preston.

I'd say a few would head to Sandringham as their first priority if they got the chance as they are looking to fill their list.

Probably sounds harsh but other VFL clubs would be best to avoid most of them - as the Bullants results show they’re simply not up to VFL level.

There’s a few exceptions who will find new homes but most don’t belong in the VFL.

Another one from Ashwood to Doncaster.

It’s a risky strategy for all involved. What happens when these coaches leave? For the coaches too. Pillaging your old club doesn’t do much for the reputation. Can often just leave you a target for battling clubs who just need the players you can bring.

I guess when the club has folded you need to take the risk.

As for Ashwood, good chance they don’t survive this. Any club being relegated to the bottom division and losing a pile of players is going to be up against it (they don’t have juniors either). To think the EFNL were seriously trying to bring them into the comp. Shows how much they’re really trying to build the quality of the league vs just filling their pockets with affiliation fees from whoever. Try to bring them in to Division 4, Doncaster fold, they get back into D4 by raiding Ashwood. What a circus.

A leaf out of the Vermont / Blackburn playbook?

Possibly, though I don’t think to the extent of those two and may have been more to do with a school link between a group of players and/or coach.
This came from one of their sports trainers during the first COVID year so my recollection of details is very vague!
