Obviously I'm in Cairns and have eaten and caught heaps of Coral Trout and big Reds Give me KGW or Flounder even Flatties any day Cold water fish much better in my opinion than our fish up here. Don't get me wrong Trout are good but like you say Duck give me a KGW any day.

It’s fantastic.

Here in my Japan my favourite cooked fish (baked in this case) is buri. It’s Japanese Amberjack, a kind of yellowtail. So succulent.

Ive reeled in quite a few in my time, plenty off 90 mile and heaps from port Phillip.. KGW > Snapper > Gummy. I mean its not the worst eating, it is quite good but i’d prefer a boat filled with KGW and Snapper

Gummies aren’t too bad, especially in a light crispy batter, but you are on the money saying snapper and KGW are better! Both are bloody beautiful table fish. Accompanied with a nice potato cake!

Never thought I’d be discussing fish in a pre season thread but here we are….(might make a dedicated fish thread in lidge’s lounge).

Spanish Mac is overrated, catch plenty up here on the mid north coast, and I’ve usually over them after 3/4 feeds early in the season. Really nice smoked though. I end up using it in a lot of fish curries.
