I don’t get why they don’t have the round 0 teams have a bye in round 1. Then round 2 all 18 clubs have had a bye.

It’s just simple logic.

4 of these games are Non-Vic vs Non-Vic. Their commitment to the bit of not allowing Non- Vic teams the spotlight could not be more obvious.

This is lazy scheduling Essendon v Melbourne for a third time in Gather round Brisbane v North for a third time out in the sticks and Geelong v West Coast for a 2nd time, Carlton v Adelaide a 2nd time as well.

None of those games are worth going to as a neutral spectator

Why are the reigning Premiers out in the sticks again!!!

Brisbane v Freo on Friday night at Adelaide oval would be great

Even North deserve Adelaide oval game, could have played Collingwood and sent the Essendon Melbourne game to Norwood

Freo beat Collingwood at the MCG so get forced to play them at Adelaide oval a place Collingwood rarely loses

They're games the clubs don't want, so they foist them on Gather Round

Essendon doesn't want to waste a home game hosting Melbourne's 12 fans.

Brisbane certainly doesn't want to host North Melbourne. Even Geelong hosting West Coast is not that enticing.

So they get those games out of the rotation this way

Also seems like we may have three consecutive home games between rounds 3-5, then two away games in a row. Unless we play away rounds two and three.

Port host Geelong in round 7 for Anzac Day. They host the Bulldogs in round nine then travel to Darwin to face Gold Coast.

So you’d think we go:

3 - home
4 - home (Freo)
5 - home (Carlton for GR)
6 - away
7 - away
8 - home (showdown)
9 - away
10 - home

Maybe I’m missing something. Have we ever had four out of five games at home? (I know Gather round is considered neutral).

Perhaps both us and port play away in the same round?
