Well they are putting themselves into positions to win games but are unable to seal the deal. That suggests it's a mental thing as well imo.
The opposition coaches drum it in to their team before the last quarter,Fly said it himself. Teams know we're going to fold going into the last quarter. Its like taking candy off a baby.

I have seen snippets of footage of Elijah and, while I have nfi why he is acting like he is, what is blatantly obviously is HE WAS NOT FIT TO BE ON THE FIELD. I honestly don't care if it was drugs, and issue around medication, or a manic attack, he should have been taken off the field the moment hus erratic behaviour began, put through a concussion test and taken out of the game.
This is disgraceful by the club, everyone from the coaching staff, medical staff and our leadership group. SOMEONE needed to protect Elijah, even if it was self inflicted.

I gave * shit for the drug saga, with a key point being their incompetence around player welfare. Tell me how did we protect Elijah's welfare today??? .....
For all our onfield incompetence, I've defended the club and our decision making around players, coaches, hires.

I've never been so disappointed in the club as I am today. To leave a player in that state on the field is an utter disgrace. Did no one foresee the social media circus and vitriol that would be directed towards Eli as a result of that decision?

Was Ollie in the right state of mind to be tasked with the most dangerous player on the field, after witnessing the erratic behaviour of his brother? That quarter by Nick was one of the best I've seen live, even before Ollie was moved to him. Surely there's an understanding that Ollie's head might not be 100% in the game, and that assignment was best left to someone else?

The club offers us a serious explanation for what went wrong tonight. Would expect heads to roll if it is indeed discovered that we knew there was something wrong pregame and we persisted for 60% of the game.

Sincerely hope there's people around Eli to help him through this, and he's kept well away from media and social media...

I wonder if Andrew Dillon will make an effort to call Elijah Hollands, let alone visit his house, to check on his welfare. Or does he only reserve his concern for people like Bailey Smith.

Elijah never should have been on an AFL list (for at least this year, but possibly for life). We should have kept him for the VFL where we could have put support structures around him and given him a focus at a lower level of pressure and scrutiny. I personally thought the best outcome would have been to build him to the point where he was mentally able to walk away from the game. Instead, I suspect he will leave on someone else’s terms. And that’s not going to be healthy.

Imagine being Bailey Humphrey and watching that game last night.

1. Team that can’t hold onto a lead week on week and is set for a bottom three finish and potential rebuild.

2. Team that can’t execute basic skills and hit players running by

3. Coach that is under the pump and isn’t known for any tactical prowess (and I’d be surprised if the players even like him anymore)

4. Watching a potential Teammate appear to be under the influence or whatever while on the ground… and still remain out there.

… and the other option is Hawthorn for the same money 🙄

The more I think about hollands, the worse our reality is. Reeks of lack of leadership and unprofessionalism. What a rotten club.

The lack of care for a player.

The lack of responsibility by anyone on field or off it, to let it continue.

The lack of accountability post match by Voss.

The lack of decency by our leadership players to get him off.

The lack of foresight by the medical staff to let him keep playing, and not take him to the rooms and get him sorted off camera.

The lack of professionalism by hollands to turn up like it. Drugs, anxiety, panic attack. Whatever it was. If he wasn't right he should have said something. That's why we have emergency players.

He has no sympathy from me, but our club also failed him last night and that's disgraceful.

We are a weak, broken club to allow any of it.

Everyone calling for Voss' head but after last night, Cripps can stand down too. I read Walsh was seen firing up at Elijah. Give him the captaincy. At least he hates losing and might fire a ticket up the players.

Only just saw the footage of Elijah that was shown on channel 7 postgame. Very distressing. Looks completely disconnected from his nervous system. Absolutely looks like a bloke going through some sort of breakdown. Really hope he gets the help he needs

Entire coaching staff need to go. To allow a player to take the field in that state is not only dangerous and negligent.
It really shows how far off we are as a professionalism organisation.

Issue is they don’t seem to be coming from big knocks either. Very concerning
We saw this with Paddy McCartin....very minor knocks were resulting in weeks off for concussion. Hope McKay gets through it ...at his best he is a match winner. And I reckon if he was out there in the fourth Carlton might of won last night.

I got absolutely smashed by some on here for my opinions on Elijah over the pre season.

He had a lot of trust to make up and with everything he was dealing with, 3 months of good behavour/training was nowhere enough. The issues he was dealing with would never have been addressed in 3 months. This is what experts told me

People on here, and and seems the club by excited by highlights on the training track. Madness

IMO (and said at time) he should have been offered a 12 month contract in the VFL so he could then stay and train around the club. We could have still looked after him but without the pressure

As I said at the time a strong club would not have signed him. It was wrong for us and importantly wrong for him

Poor

Agree 100% with this post. It's embarrassing

I never wanted to give him another go. Give the opportunity to a player doing the right thing.

Another rebuild after rebuild, after rebuild.

I've watched some of the footage of Elijah this morning. Reports of him flipping off teammates and ending up in the Collingwood huddle at one point, along with giving away the first 6-6-6 infringement in the last. Erratic behaviour in the warmup as well.

Unacceptable for our coaches or player welfare guys to not pick this up. He's the first guy you'd be monitoring.

The more I see footage of Elijah, the angrier I get. He’s either on the gear (personally I think this is still unlikely) or he’s had some sort of manic episode.

How have the club allowed him to not just play, but spend the majority of the time on the ground; it’s absolutely negligent. How have the leadership group, his fellow players, the line coach, the runner, the head coach, the doctor, the trainer and any of the other 100 people involved in game day just said “yeah he’s right to play elite football”. I mean what ****ing vision were the forward coaches reviewing at half time?

Just burn the ****ing place down. Don’t even bother starting again.

Didn't see this cause I didn't even go or watch the game, but if this is true we are completely ****ed.
