It depends on how you weight their impact I guess.

The AFL rating system rated Trembaths game well above, because they weight things like turnover and advanced disposal stats harshly.

Jagga has an average kicking retention rating of -10 after his first two games. Which is fairly brutal.

That is a rating +/- below the AFL average in those instances of hitting the target and your team retaining the ball.

His threat rating was a big negative. Meaning on average he prevented direct scoring plays with his kicking, not facilitated them or unlocked them. Which is a problem given he kicked is 24 times across Carltons first two games.

Puts him virtually bottom 10 in the league for mids in the first two rounds. Of those 10 he had the lowest basic disposal kick eff % (which is a flawed stat though)

For some context, Will Ashcroft has a -27 kick retention rating, which is just about the biggest two week butcher job since the stat has been collated. That's the equivalent of kicking with two left feet.
Where are you pulling these stats from, would love to know how smith had a - rating when he had 11 score invovlements from 32 touches, for him to have a negative rating every other possession must have been a turnover surely

Also if both coaches had him in the best 5 players on the ground the he was surely having a positive impact/doing something right.....

This is nothing against smith, but Trembath was over looked in game 1, game 2, game 3 and now game 4.

He’s rated as more impactful than Murphy Reid who won the thing, and more than smith.

If smith played for north and cooper for carlton, cooper would have revived his second nomination this week after already being nominated last year (probably on debut)

How about game 5?

Sorry not sorry, but the way North fans are going on about Cooper Trembath I had to bump this post.

Feel like Scerri is a bit unlucky but I imagine he'll get one at some point if he continues playing like he did.

Can't argue with Shanahan though.

No you misunderstood. I was advocating Trembath get nominated for one of the 4 games that he played that saw him kick 12 goals and be rated top 10 kpf in the comp.

Not for future games that hadn’t happened yet

Not even the best KPF at North.

All the best to Trembath, I rate him, but there sure was a lot of angst earlier in this thread about him.

5 gamer isn’t as good as AA Aust larkey

Sound insight

Give it a rest mate and enjoy the win.

No need to try and pretend Trembaths first 4 games didn’t happen

Well getting nominated certainly helps. :$;)

Someone on the Richmond board posted the club agreed to not select Shanahan as part of the Baker trade deal.

Wow if true.

You could argue it makes sense for Allan but I doubt we expected Shanahan to still be available at 30

And exactly which if those 4 games should have he been nominated in ???

Rd 22 was a HUGE loss to the giants where Trembath, in his 1st game, scored 3.1 from 6 disposals. Good, sure, but not a MUST GET A NOMINATION games. Boxshall, in a Win, had 14 disposals, 5 marks and laid 8 tackles in his 9th game. You are often getting nominations for your body of work by rd 22. Can you argue against Boxshall getting it over Trembath ???

Rd 23. Rowston in a winning side kicked 4 goals from 12 disposals, 6 marks and laid 4 tackles. Trembath scored 3.1 from 9 disposals, 4 marks and 1 tackles. Again hard to argue Trembath deserved the nomination.

Rd 24 probably sees the strongest argument, with Trembath (in a loss) scoring 3.2 from 11 disposals, 4 marks and 3 tackles v Carroll (in a win) with his 15 disposals (13 kicks), 7 marks and 407 maters gained playing on a wing. Carrol again had accumulated 17 games for the season and had a good game in a win apposed to limited games for Trembath in a loss.

And Trembath v Jagga in Rd 1 isn't even a close comparison.

So exactly when should Trembath have received 'his' nomination ??? .....

This week feels like Trembath for his body of work deserves a nod, didn't have a huge game but another 2 goals and did well.

Whitlock (Port) was very good, especially early when Port were in top.

Didn't watch the whole game but Grjl seems to always put up some good numbers and create well from defence.

W Duursma another very good game with 20 touches, 6 marks and 1 goal 3 behinds, I think with more accuracy he gets it easy.

Honestly, I believe body of work must be a thing. I don't think Shanahan necessarily deserved it the week before but i'll take it. However, as good Trembath has been, no one involved in that game from either side deserves anywhere near it. It was a stinker. North were just less stinky than Essendon. Wall of shame territory.

Whitlock? Cool, will happily give that one. Duursma? Probable. I don't see Grlj getting the nod during a pantsing.

Duursma will win the whole thing surely, unless he gets injured

Jagga is strong favorite cause he racks up the stats and Carlton massively hype their kids.

Don't get me wrong he looks a super player but so does Duursma and if it's close on performance Smith will romp it in on media hype.
