From the Hawks:
In the side - Gunston, Watson
In contention - Barrass, Newcombe, Impey

Pearce - Barrass - Parker
The Lizard - Wilkie - Clark

Gawn - Heeney - The Bont
Smith - Daicos - Sheezel

Pickett - Treacy - Bailey
Watson - King - Gunston

Bench: Jackson, Butters, Petracca, Bolton

Several players obviously unlucky and this side is midfield/forward heavy. Probably not enough Swans in hindsight.

Pearce always gets crucially underrated, he's one of the best captains in the league too.
He usually gets injured at some stage and misses enough games to not be considered. I think if he plays the full year he'll get the benefit of the doubt and given the nod if there is a close decision.

He's not getting in.

I would pick Macdonald, he has been underrated. Great season so far.

I'd have Grundy ahead of Jackson for the second ruck spot

He did come second by a vote in the b and f in a team that lost by under a goal in the grand final. The next year no brownlow but was AA, b and f, captain of premiership side and Gary Ayers Medal though.
Brownlow results have no influence on how I rate players. At all.

You, naturally, can please yourself.

Btw, it doesn't mean I don't rate Neale. I do. I don't rate the Brownlow.

You can’t have Grundy and Gawn in the same team …. Proven fact

It's interesting, isn't it? Probably two of the three best ruckmen, along with Jackson, and yet when those two played together it didn't really work that well. I know the reason why.

So if it’s a line ball call, Jackson offers versatility in other positions while Grundy/Gawn don’t. So the other two can fight for the No1 ruck position while Jackson gets the pocket or Bench spot as impact chop out ruck.

That is most likely … Jackson as second ruck/ forward

Cal Wilkie been solid so far
Mcinerney a possible new entry

Butters, Luke Jackson, Watson

Cal Wilkie been solid so far
Solid!?

He’s outright 4th in the coaches votes (only ones ahead of him are Butters, Daicos and Bontempelli) and here are some of his numbers:

Intercepts per game AFL #1 (by a mile)
Marks #1 (by a mile)
Intercept marks #1 (by a mile)
TOG % #1 (only player not benched)
Contested defensive losses % #3
Contested marks #7
Effective kicks #4
Effective disposals #10
Disposals #19

Dude is having an outrageous season!

* Pending Moore’s number of intercept marks tonight.
WTf?

what does solid even mean to you? Solid meaning top of the list.

Meaning ive rated him in my ratings as the best defender this season.

Needs to do more damage on the scoreboard. Cripps, Neale and Oliver have better overall ball winning numbers than Newcombe this year and I don't think any of them would be near most peoples AA teams at this stage.
Newcombe has been pretty good scoreboard wise

0.6 GA 6.6 SI
0.5 goals 1 shot per game

This will rise even more when Day returns as it gives him a chance to get forward more instead of being just the main one in the middle.

Been very good this year, big impact player always has been with his power and class.

B: Clark - Barrass - Wilkie
HB: Ash - Pearce - Blakey
C: Smith - Bont - Sheezel
FOL: Gawn - Petracca - N.Daicos
HF: Heeney - Treacy - Pickett
F: Watson - King - Gunston
INT: C.MacDonald - Butters - Newcombe - McCartin - Grundy

Probably have missed someone
