Serong another bad game, this bloke is no AA
Whilst I agree, he is not deserving of AA so far this year. His output is below his usual standards because other players are becoming more trustworthy in the centre.

Have added Young, now Bolton and Reid with flashes off Johnson and Erasmus. Even though he is a better centre square specialist than any of those guys, its nice that we arent so reliant on him anymore.

Forget the personal accolades, being the leader he is Im sure he is happier with the team improving and playing better footy!

Genuine half forwards are rarely selected in the best 18 for an AA Side but is Connor Macdonald on anyone's radar yet?

22 disposals per game with a goal and goal assist per game.

#1 score involvements.

I still have Z.Bailey as my current lock for the HFF spot. Connor better at linking the play but Zac doing more damage on the scoreboard.

For seasonal rankings I have the following for a HFF (with the other HFF usually reserved for a mid that rotates forward such as a Pickett/Heeney)

1. Z.Bailey
2. S.Bolton
3. C.Macdonald

Holmes as a half back/midfield utility with another BOG performance today.

In 2026 he's averaging:

28.9 disposals @ 75.3% DE
5.3 inside 50s
4.6 rebound 50s
596.8 metres gained
3.5 clearances
0.4 goals
1.1 goal assists
6.3 score involvements
3.9 intercepts

The negative is 5.3 turnovers per game but he has plenty of effective long range kicks too.

He should have 35-37 coaches votes after this weekend (featuring in 5 games) - more than Smith.

After 2 seasons where he easily could have been AA, surely another at his current level gets him the nod.

He is certainly in my team right now.

He’s been fantastic but he’s facing the yearly uphill battle of having to battle it out with goal kicking mids for the half fwd spots. Will he end up better than say a JHF or Petracca by the end of the year?

He’s clearly deserving of consideration but the All Australian panel love doing strange things.

To say Bolton is in a purple patch is a bit of an understatement. The cat is in career best form. Absolutely dominating. As others have mentioned, Serong and Brayshaw have taken a bit of a back seat in the midfield.

B: Clark - Barrass - Wilkie
HB: Ash - Pearce - Blakey
C: Smith - Bont - Sheezel
FOL: Gawn - Petracca - N.Daicos
HF: Heeney - Treacy - Pickett
F: Watson - King - Gunston
INT: C.MacDonald - Butters - Newcombe - McCartin - Grundy

Probably have missed someone
Bolton. You’ve missed Bolton

Yeah. Ahead of Watson, I'd argue.

Holmes probably still living down his odd GF performance, but he went to a new level yesterday. One of those, "Ok I'll just win the game by myself" efforts.

I’d be looking at Petracca personally

He’s already missed a few games

Newcombe is a lock right now IMO.

Likewise Watson.

All bias aside, they are the only Hawks players I'd have in currently.

Is this forward line against the grain, or close to the mark?

Bolton Treacy Pickett
Watson King Georgiadies

so no Charlie or Bailey Bolton and Pickett are midfielder this year both with more than 50% CBA

Bailey is in, so swap him with Pickett or Bolton for a bench spot if you'd like.

Cameron has been fantastic, but Watson's pure score involvement ability probably has him just ahead.

Are people sleeping on Jeremy Cameron because of a couple of quieter games?

He's kicked 19 goals and had 5 goal assists over his past 4 games, is the highest ranked key forward by Player Ratings (3+ game minimum) over 2026 and is averaging 4.0 combined goal assists, 7.4 score involvements and 15.6 disposals. Georgiades is the 21st highest key forward by Player Ratings and is averaging 3.2 combined goals/assists, 7.1 score involvements and 12.6 disposals.

I'd take Cameron or Gunston over Georgiades as the mobile tall forward.

Bolton and Pickett are spending more time in midfield than Holmes this year (especially over the past month), but you just know with this form they'll get chosen as forward flankers and Holmes won't get that treatment at halfback.

I think Watson is ahead on goals which generally is the main criteria for the small pocket spot. But Charlie is in fantastic form again and close behind.

Bailey also has a lot of competition for a pretty open hff. Reckon any of 5 guys could be argued in or out right now
