Game Day 2026 Round 4 Discussion

Dear AFL,

I know you and I have had our disagreements over the years around scheduling, but I looked at the fixture and was surprised to see a game on Thursday as families head away for the weekend. I thought there must be a good reason, so as I was getting my deep tissue massage I thought I would turn my mind to the fixture for the Easter Long Weekend. I must admit, I was completely stumped for a while as I drifted in and out of consciousness as my masseuse worked his figures in to my knots. However, I think that after a long period of consideration, I may have finally come up with a suggestion of how the round could work. I acknowledge that it must have been really tough for your department, because it took me ages to work through all the different scenarios and machinations. Although I didn't have a stopwatch with me, I estimate that it might have taken around 17 seconds.

Here we go.

Friday, 3:15pm, Norf vs First Half Blues (don't give us the second half FFS).
Friday, 7:15pm, Adel vs Freo

Sat, 1:10pm, Rich vs Port
Sat, 4:20pm, WCE vs Syd
Sat, 7:30pm, Bris vs Coll

Sun, 1:10pm, Melb vs GC
Sun, 4:20pm, WB vs Ess
Sun, 7:30pm, St K vs GWS

Mon, 3:15pm, Haw vs Geel

Now, I know I'm no expert, but I will happily provide my scheduling services for a fraction of whatever the knobhead is being paid at AFL House. If I'm to be honest, I'm thinking minimum wage is probably overs considering the output, and you can't pay me less than that, so perhaps I'll swap you for a $25,000 donation to Ovarian Cancer Australia.

Also, as part of the deal, I insist that at every AFL game where the national anthem is sung, both verses are sung. It is a blight on our great nation that you show so much disrespect to our country to only bother to sing half of the song in the first place. I mean, we do sing both verses of the mighty NZ national anthem.

Finally, I ****ing hate that filthy mongrel turd Dayne "flog" Zorko. He is also to be de-registered.

I feel this is a win-win-win situation for you, the game and our beautiful fans.

So do I for the other 22 rounds. Thursday night before a four-day long weekend lots and lots and lots of people are in cars going away. That leaves a mere 7 games and afternoons watching the grass grow.

Some of us normal people like to lie on the couch in a semi-comatose state for four days watching footy. Mornings are for mowing the lawn while you process a few beroccas, except Sunday, that's pig out on chocolate eggs until you're too sick and switch to beer.
