Position 2026 Rucks

Opening round had an average of 75.2 hitouts. Last year had 82 average.

Preseason games had 76.5 average.

The most concerning thing is the Saints vs Magpies game had only 49 hitouts! This game, in my opinion, was a more realistic game too because it was actually defensively minded like how games get in the middle of the year.

Well there is 3 days to go until the real start of the season and I'm still not sure what Ruck setup I'm going with.
I currently have English & TDK and happy to start with English but TDK I don't know whether I want to start him or not.
What are you guys doing?

I have gone back to Jacko and TDK

Keep in mind I'm sh*t at this game

Still English/McAndrew for me

Having another look I think I will leave it or I have to change other lines to find the extra cash.
I will give TDK a go and before his Round 4 bye if he is scoring no good then either trade up to the best scoring ruck or put McAndrew at R2 if he is scoring ok and trade TDK to premo Mid/Def.

ive got tdk and sticking with him , i guess it depends on what 520k buys you running mcandrew at r2 as the alternative

clarry maybe, but you'd be using flex so would have to tidy up the dpp versatility in doing so

I do have $27k ITB so with TDK it gives me $552k but I'm not sold on Sharp and could swap him to Watkins if named which would give me $602k to spend. Enough for Cameron/Richards or anyone under that amount:think:

Im pretty confident Sharp will average 65-70 and make some good cash which is about what you would expect from a $150k rookie and will get games. Jagga/Sharp are the 2 i selected first

Competition average last year was 97.8

Biggest issue for rucks I reckon is the speed of center clearances. No points for them if it’s a neutral ruck contest & the midfield runs it out & kicks a goal immediately.

As much as the AFL wants it to be basketball & not caring how goals are scored as long as they are scored, i’m confident coaches will slow that down. Coaches always want it slower. AFL wants breakneck speed, but I reckon coaches will try to temper it.

Think this is spot on. I don't have stats for it but I wonder if there have been many HTA from CBA's as well.

As you say the rucks don't get the chance to do anything after the tap as the ball is gone.

TDK looked really good last night and i was surprised when i looked at his score under 100
To the eye it looked like a 120+ game

I thought the opposite actually he was pretty ordinary at times and it was only when Marshall went off with concussion that his scoring improved. There is No Marshall this week so he will be up against Gawn all by himself it will be interesting to see as he has a poor record against him but playing with Pitto as well previously.

I think TDKs field skills help give him a baseline

I had English and TDK but have changed to English and Cameron, mainly swayed by the later bye situ......too many Rd16...

I agree but he also need more hitouts as well. He is defiantly better as a solo ruck and you can see when Pitto came back his scoring plummeted. I feel he will be a 110+ average as a solo ruck but with Roma be sub 90 IMO.

I have absolutely no interest in spending and top level cash on the Rucks til I get more data.

Right now my total spend is $800K on R1 & 2 and bench.

I have put a handy DPP premium in at flex to negate any scores below rookies onfield from one of them.

They rotate well with byes and I will field the two who play weaker ruck opponents.

It has afforded me to have only 3 rookie priced players onfield, none are first year players.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get an extra Premium but I did get a few extra Midpricers.

Tactic may backfire but it can be corrected during upgrade season.

I did have Grundy and English for most of the preseason but that meant fielding 1 less premo in the other 3 lines as well as 6 rookies onfield.

May as well gamble this year with the uncertainty.

Worst case is they perform like 2 onfield rookies anyway.

Add on note: I will probably get Draper when on the bubble and maybe chuck ROMA in the forward line during the season.

I am making some hats.

‘LETS MAKE RUCKS GREAT AGAIN’

I'm locked on Xerri and just between Gawn or Jackson for the last slot.

Fully prepared to offload Xerri after 2 rounds if it's looking bad but it's much easier to start him than it is to get him in.

Jackson just lets me get some better rookies in than Gawn.

The one thing this weekend has shown me is the golden rule still applies, your premium ruck, must be the clear number 1, solo ruck at their club.

That’s why Cameron is enticing me at the moment.

Been big on the TDK train but didn’t like what I saw Sunday.
