Position 2026 Rucks

We will get a decent look at Gawn next week in the SOO match.

He said today he is not playing in the Melbourne trial 5 days later.
You mentioned English earlier, I’m finding it difficult to leave out both he and Jackson. Jackson has the better bye and will be suited (no brainer without Darcy) but I can see English going big this year, rules look written for him. Will start one of them in flex at this stage.

I’m not writing the rucks off just yet!

If Darcy doesn’t start then I’m riding Jackson (and Xerri) until he’s back

Hopefully can sideways Jackson to Gawn by then

Don’t think Jackson is a keeper at R2 all season but if I’m proved wrong then easy to just keep him

Anyone else putting a premo ruck in as flex?

I have been toying with the idea.

But if they're the top 2 rucks going at 115 each, you massively overpaid for them
It all depends on how your current rucks are going if you dont have the top 2. I would still take 115 each and the loss of cash over 2 other rucks who are averaging 85 each

I prefer someone i can sub to the bench if they're a late out. R3 is not always helpful as a replacement. Not sure it's a great idea with unknowns around ruck scoring this year .

this is the thing - the drop away from the best performed to the others is normally more dramatic, gives a captain option, and by nature are in the play consistently

Madness. Especially given how valuable Rucks are as cash generators. Keeping that spot open for potential rookie rucks while you are incomplete seems smarter

Especially with the unknown of the new rules

Agree, Bryan for example could make huge cash when he gets in the team.

If the ruck scoring does drop, the only thing worse than having 2 overpriced rucks would be having 3.

Xerri to Bryan seems like the logical move to make in that scenario.
In my experience trading Xerri to a cheap ruck normally doesnt work

He was averaging 107 and was about to vs ROB, i had Sweet R3 who just scored 130. Xerri ended up averaging 119 come end of season :(

I mean, that's a very different scenario. With Xerri's fixture at the start of season, he could easily be upward of $700k.

He's already 687k lol, if thats too much and you want to cash in you might as well not start him. If he does enough to maintain that price you'd be crazy to cash in mid season.

The point of starting him is that you get the monster scores he has at the start of the season- hypothetically speaking. After he plunders a 150 avg from the first 4-6 weeks, you effectively make $150k by trading him to a fallen premium around $550k.

Back to my original point, rarely works. Shit happens, you might struggle to get him back in and then you miss out on Cats x2, Eagles, Tigers, Essendon, Port later on in the year.

Generally speaking, it's almost always worth trading a player out that's gone over $700k.

Obviously we won't know until we get there, but this is pretty simple theoretical prediction.

If big X is scoring anything like a $700K plus stud he will be extremely hard to remove (think Grundy last year).
