The difference being positional value. Same thing will in all likelihood happen to Lucas Robinson this season. Big body midfields without point of differences in athleticism or ball use have gone from 2-3+ per team to 1 if any. See how stark the difference is between Carlton’s midfield compared to everyone else’s.

The same cannot be said for Arki Butler

Most teams play guys who kick less goals because pressure is more important in modern football. Jack Higgins will kick more goals than Cyril Rioli in the same amount of games despite not playing in a team that had made 5 grand finals.

You still need players to kick the goals though… you’re having a laugh if you think there is no place in the game for a forward half contest winner, with the ability to find the sticks from anywhere inside 50 AND is very useful up the great with a great footy brain and great skills.

You’re talking completely out of your ass.

? Sandringham is the powerhouse of U18 footy. They could field 2 CTL teams with the depth of talent they have with spreading players out over school and rep footy. Made the last 4 gf (winning 3) & half their team is drafted every year.

If I want a small fwd then i'd think hard about Marlon Neocleous & not overpay for Butler.

At the time though 14 would’ve been crazy overpay and we couldn’t trade it anyway.

Lots of things are easy to say in hindsight but Freo were slandered for paying as much as they did.

It’s not personal to Arki as a player it’s about posting straight up misinformation when most people in the thread aren’t avid draft watchers. You can have your opinion, but you never actually explained why, and everything you did explain was wrong.

Sam Marshall BRI has a 1 year deal from BRI as is normal with all draftees but wants more and wants to play AFL, thinks he lands Vic this year, but no intel.

2026 draft risers pushing into the 1st round are Jackson Phillips, Clancy Snell all top 15 by clubs/recruiters and Mitchell Harris KPD from SA is gaining lots of interest.

I’m a big Clancy Snell fan but I think he falls between our picks.

Although Ballard has the runs in the board I would prefer Dawson over him, much younger and I believe he has much improvement in him.
Much better age profile for our list build.
Gippsland Power boy so would know Durrsma.

I’m seeing a good cohort this draft and am pretty confident that if we finish bottom 5 then we are going to get three good prospects in this years draft, before we need to fill in some gaps with NGA / FS and role players.

He certianly looks really good, Snell.

The variety of draftees in this draft looks really good, lots of KP players also.
I agree if we can get 3 really good prospects with our first 3 picks and then fill it up with our NGA/FS players.

I have had a look a couple of times at Dawson and they are playing him in the ruck a lot because he looks really big already and my observations are a bit slower also.
Just my take, but agree with the age group profile on Dawson.
