Who is worth looking at to replace May?
I haven’t seen that Melbourne has anyone aside from some Casey listed guys participating in training.

Casey listed Ah-Mu looked an interesting player from the intra match with his clear size and strength. I’ve been a fan of Paddy Cross for a while as a guy who doesn’t look much but just makes things happen in the forward line.

The urgency to get the May situation resolved prior to the SSP listing deadline tomorrow (Monday) suggests there is probably a player they have in mind.

Someone training with another AFL club perhaps?

I’m sure the list management team knew the list spot coming available was a possibility and have been working on that possibility for a while.

Advantage of listing SSP is it’s effectively a free agent signing.

The other option is to keep the spot free and wait until the mid season draft to see how non listed players are travelling in the second tier competitions. But then of course it’s a draft and the player Melbourne want could be taken earlier than Melbourne’s pick.

Is there any word yet on Kentfield's injury? We might have two spots available to fill.
I haven’t seen any news on Kentfield but on viewing the footage his knee didn’t appear to do anything too drastic. His lower leg went a bit to the side but it wasn’t the sort of forward hyper extension or no contact collapse while changing direction type incident you typically see with an ACL tear. Fingers crossed it isn’t a season ending problem.

Over on ‘land there’s a fair bit of support for Blight.

I don’t reckon May was in King’s plans at all for 2026 so I don’t think a like-for-like tall defender is necessarily required.

I don’t know much about Blight although I recall him looking pretty athletic. But I know that Richmond lost tall defender Tyler Young to West Coast, have massive question marks of Gibcus’ ability to come back - and they still decided Blight was surplus to needs. On the other hand Richmond did draft several young talls with early draft picks who they would project to overtake Blight soon as well.

Cross has been training with the AFL side, and seems like a King type IMO. Not a KPP, which you'd think we'd need currently with 3 gone atm, but would not be shocked at all to see him get the gig.

Yep. He’s one I’d look at. Jaidyn Stephenson also could be worth a shot. Not a key position player but a very talented player and has done a full
Pre season at port. Would also suit the King style with the quick ball movement forward from my memory of him playing.

Stephenson is no chance IMO. Imagine going a full 'clean slate' on culture then bringing him in....

I listened to the podcast with Jaidyn Stephenson and was a bit surprised by how good he sounded.
Wouldn't mind picking up that flakey bastard.

Or Marcus Krasnadamskis, Toby Sinnema.
Maybe a JT special..

Also depends on how serious Batman's knee injury is.

Or we may keep it open for the MSD. Who knows the plan.
