I'm starting to reconsider putting my opinions on here. These are just my amateur observations. I think Buller was much better than West. We can't play all 4 players and West will play soon enough. I'm trying to encourage conversation on a very slow day. Either people think I'm expert or they're just having a bad day. West looked so far away in his only game last year that I seriously doubt he would have been in the conversation so close to finals. I'm just preaching patience, that's all. If he proves me wrong, then I would have thought it's a good thing and not something to haggle over.

Maybe it's the way I write. I'm probably Charlie's biggest fan but it might not be reflected in my posting. I really like encouraging conversation, not much else to do the day before our game

There's no context in practice games. This is just my opinion. Putting credence in a practice game is foolish. I just think he'll still be in development this year, that's all. It has no bearing on his future. Let's at least see how the season unfolds before we declare him a regular senior player. Happy if you think he's better than that already but it's not my observation.

I think putting credence in the results of practice games is dumb, but there’s always context.
Norfs context was playing a full strength side and reportedly being read the riot act by Clarko after the previous weeks drubbing.
Our context was playing a second string midfield and deliberately playing our kids.

What can we get from that?
West was getting fairly average delivery in poor conditions.
Whilst we shouldn’t regard Norf as a “strong” opponent, it was clear they had an almost full strength squad and were playing for the win.
Wests numbers in the day were respectable against AFL players.

Does that mean he’s ready for senior footy? Not necessarily, but I’d also say that based on what we saw he’s not that far off it either.

The West obsession is getting ridiculous. He looked a mile off against norf. Let him continue to learn in the vfl. If we get injuries, then he might be considered. Buller was covering heaps of ground and presenting really well. Which debutante would you play?

Buller is 24 so you hope his body is more mature then West

Against norf in a practice match. Not exactly a good guide. He won't be playing ahead of our other 3 tall forwards unless there's an injury or a dramatic form slump. He'll get a few games but can't see him being a regular this year, which is perfectly fine

We tried to move up the order to get Bont but St Kilda wouldn’t risk losing Billings (lol) so we had to hope pick 6 was enough. It looked that way until the dogs showed late interest and swooped at pick 4.

Well the Forward Structure that Game was Terrible plus he got a Foot Injury during the Game that Ruled him out the rest of the Season

That game has nothing to do about this season

He looked good in the 6 Qtrs he played in Pre-Season

TD. He’s simply of the opinion that west isn’t ready just yet. He’s not saying he won’t be. People get a bit too defensive on here regarding some of the kids.

I also won't be surprised if he doesn't get selected next week, unless there's an injury. West can't play second ruck and we have buller and even mcstay ahead of him. We just need a bit of patience. My vasectomy nearly reversed itself when we picked him up. When he's ready, he'll play

Jake Rodgers is one we should target. Was a Collingwood supporter and plays midfield quite a bit in the VFL. Instant bobby replacement but with the ability to go into the middle and impact

Why is it so triggering for people when we don’t play their favourite youth players?

It’s far more troubling when we play them before they’re ready, they under perform and kills self belief.
