Port will want 3 first rounders and 2 decent players at a minimum. It's a huge investment that I doubt we'll invest in. I want butters but we don't have the collateral. Sydney paid 25, 26 and 27 first rounds and 2 best 23 players for Curnow. Where there's a will there's a way but I can't see the way unfortunately

I really want to land Bailey Humphrey. Obviously Butters would be elite but Humphrey would be cheaper and I’d be hoping that would let us get a key defender like Jordan Butts too.

I'm torn on this (not that what I think changes anything haha). I'd be delighted with Humphrey too. I think he's going to be a superstar and a genuine matchwinner for a long time. What a get he would be.

But Butters and Nick in the middle together would also be outrageous. Tag Nick and Butters casually racks up 40 and a couple of goals.

But hey, I'll be just fine with either at the end of the day!

as much as I’d love butters I agree. We need a list refresh with pendles. Sidey, Howe and Elliot all gone by end of next season. Even jordy will be getting on by then. All in on butters leaves us without picks to grab other A grade talent.

King would be handy if we can get him for $ alone which would allow us to hopefully draft a good mid that’s able to impact in his 1st/2nd season. This all depends obviously on where we finish this year. Could be anywhere from 5th to 10th depending on injuries etc

Realistically most of the kids we have are late picks/rookies and unlikely to kick on, certainty to the level we need.

You gotta laugh at the same person who in the last trade period reported that our ‘cap is tight’ now reporting we have a ‘war chest’, despite the fact that all we did between then and now is retire, delist or trade uncontracted players (Checkers) and bring in draftees and one cheap ruck forward.

Had some respect for Twomey but I guess the challenges of getting your clicks in a revenue constrained media industry disrupted by AI gets to everyone in one way or another.

It was very obvious that we had cash to spare to anyone spending 5min looking at our list make up and reported salaries.

Still don’t see how we get anywhere near the capital required for Butters assuming we’re even in the race. Humphrey I hope so, he should be cheaper (youth is only worth extra draft picks and salary on Bigfooty), abd contracted or not that’d be two seasons in a row of wanting out. Problem is, GC will compete for the flag this year so if they win it he may want to stay to keep sharing that bond, and if they don’t he may want to give it a last push or they may be less inclined to let him go.

GC’s cap would be fairly stretched already you’d imagine, and they have to actually have the room to match a deal.
Not sure how PA’s cap looks, but matching a $2m+ deal is going to be a tough task for any club.
