I think we'll try and get a couple of players, especially with pendles and sides, and howe coming to the end.

I think our best model to look toward is what we did at the end of the 2022 season. Thicken the soup with 2-3 senior players that we can buy low, and still hold onto our first pick and take that to the draft.

Of the free agents, I’d be keen on:

• Mitch Lewis
• Sam Switkowski
• Sam Sturt
• Nick Vlastuin (especially if Howe retires)
• Joel Amartey (if our 2nd ruck becomes a big issue this season)

All of the above are likely to be cheap options.

For some who are out of contract, and could be a buy low:

• Archie Perkins
• Jake Rogers

Then they’re players like
George wardlaw and Jed Walter who would be great gets who you might get slightly lower

Jed Walter is a 20 year old, #3 draft pick who at 195cm and 100kgs+ is quicker than Beau.... and grew up on the GC.

My guess is that his internal motivation is to have the best career he can possibly have and shoot for GOAT status.

Selfishly, I hope he plays as long as Pendles has.

It is believable that we have plenty of cap space available given Grundy and Treloar are off the books, and we essentially lost Mihocek and replaced him with Buller.

But I can't believe how the media waffle on expecting us to believe that no one else on our list has taken that money. Like Maynard would be earning more this year than last year, it'd be safe to say he's getting some of that Grundy money. Houston getting Treloar money.

GC’s cap would be fairly stretched already you’d imagine, and they have to actually have the room to match a deal.
Not sure how PA’s cap looks, but matching a $2m+ deal is going to be a tough task for any club.

That's obviously making the assumption we'd pull that lever
