Also Jen, is it true the NGA prospect Joshua Thomas who we thought was our NGA, but was aligned to Hawthorn, is now back as a NGA propect for us?
I thought with the new zones he might be back with us but I don’t think that’s the case. He must still live within hawks zone.

To be honest if Tasmania’s strategy of recruiting players is getting people to visit Tasmania. They need to change their strategy otherwise I don’t think it will have the impact they expect

Watching the Dogs v Crows game last night, it hit me clearly that both teams' younger Tier 2 players are far higher quality than our Pies' Tier 2, specially in defence.

Crows had Worrell and Michalanny who are very impressive young players, Butts who showed something yesterday and even Murray was good. Noting Curtin and Keane (not exactly young anymore) weren't playing. Dogs had O'Donnell, Khamis, Lobb and Budarick (who looks like an awesome pick up).

Outside IQ and Maynard (not exactly young anymore), and Josh (who I don't think of as a classic defender but more a dash and use type) we have Parker who has played a handful of games and looks decent. The only other reliable defenders we have are Howe and Moore (who comes to play once or twice in a season).Where are our equivalent of Worrell, Michalanny, Curtin, O'Donnell... all early 20s?

You could probably argue a similar point in the middle, where the only elite young player we have is Nick. All our best midfielders are 30+: Pendles, Crisp, Sidey, Jordy. Long is young but a total scatter gun. Bulldogs have Richards and Freijah, Crows have Peatling, Berry, Draper, Soligo... the list goes on. Our Tier 2? Harry De Mattia and probably another handful of similar list cloggers
People criticise that we didn't select Morris over De Mattia but we missed Joel Freijah twice. Freijah was pick 45, HDM pick 25 and TJ pick 37.

Also if you look at the Ginni trade we pretty much gave him up for nothing.

Collingwood gets: 33, Haw's F2 + Haw's F3
Hawthorn gets: Ginnivan, 39, Coll's F2 + Coll's F4

We finished lower than Hawks so their F2 ended up being before ours which they selected Noah Mraz who trained with us and was on our draft board.

No wonder we moved Hine on.

Missing getting Alex Davies on the cheap each of the last few years is going to hurt.

Looks like a better, more dynamic inside outside player this year.

Exactly what we needed.

Yep.

King is priority one.

Then Bailey as that extra midfielder (Butters is way too expensive).

Then a capable key defender like Butts.

Those 3 would absolutely transform our team.
Naturally 2 of them have career games as soon as we talk about them together.

Maybe we should look at Jed Walter from the Suns. Probably easier to get than King and he does seem to have fallen behind Read in the pecking order.

Gold Coast are paying:

- Petracca, King, Rowell, Anderson, Andrew all $1.2m+

- Miller, Rioli, Noble, Ballard, Collins and Witts would all be on $600k to $800k.

If he wants to leave, and we offer king $1.5m+ over 8 years, I doubt Gold Coast will be in a position to match.

It’s been said here many times that being a perennial contender means missing top draft talent. Sure, we could gut the list spend 4 years at the bottom of the ladder to “hopefully” get good talent but that’s not our style.

I’d say most supporters prefer Coll. being a perennial contender.

That Mac Andrew contract is mad

IMO, Ginni is a loss and that is confounded by the absence of Bobby.....Schultz has been fantastic, a really good get but he doesn't kick goals out of his backside like Ginni.
And Ginnivan is a disinterested plodder compared to Shooter’s manic attack on the ball and focus for 100 minutes.
I’m taking Shooter every time.

Apparently Cane’s top 5 are
1 Nick
2 Josh
3 Ginni
4 DC
5 Maynard

Ginni ahead of Maynard and DC is just a bit rich. Cornes also must not have the latest team list because Houston, Crisp, Shultz and Elliott would have to be listed. Also JDG.
Edit; I stopped there not because of complete thoughts, I stopped because I was time wasting.
Nobody in the competition would take Ginnivan ahead of Cameron, Maynard, Quaynor, Jamie Elliott, Moore, Houston or Crisp. Then there are others who I still think are better, but could be debated by some I suppose, in Pendles, Schultz, Perryman, Lipinski and likely others.
