I wouldn't think so
If we are bottom 5 and for a team that needs more young talent, I just can't imagine we'll blow it on a FA we have to trade for. Would say we would be confused where we are at.

We would almost definitely do it, if Port found it suitable

Matthew Johnson, Nathan O’Drisocll, Alex Davies, Charlie Edwards are some cheap midfielders who could be useful for us. I don’t think we’ll get any of the big names unfortunately.

So trading in midfielders who can be our 4th & 5th best mid while we try and draft our 2nd & 3rd best mid.

Alex Davies is a no brainer, got dropped this weekend and hasnt done much wrong

That’s the most myopic statement, if they don’t believe in their ability to improve the list they are in the wrong business.

Reality is that we are too reliant on Daicos through the middle and we lack a key forward. If Butters doesn’t think he can improve the midfield group then we don’t want him

Zero chance he leaves.

I like Berry, Erasmus and Shedrick, but I suspect the ship has sailed on them being gettable and from a price perspective. Bergman could also be a watch in a post Butters world if you’re offering midfield minutes, but I haven’t seen enough to categorically state he’s an upgrade. O’Driscoll is a great shout out from Chrispiesssss. I don’t know what’s happening there because Fremantle aren’t that stacked to be overlooking him as often as they do due to quality.

There are options out there I just don’t know if we can land a decent one and protect our 1st.

The size of the hole in our midfield requires more than one fix. If a top liner is available there is still further work required. In the midfield and elsewhere. A top liner would make “VFL” players necessary and such players are not bad if talent ID is good.

8 years is FA, and he'd be in the top earners at the club making him a RFA.
10 years is UFA

He does. Better at stoppage. I like Long more though. Both bad kicks, but Long has more endurance - more repeat efforts, more effective by hand and more forward run and involvement.

You make a good point regarding Dunkley and if he played for us. I’m probably a little too harsh on Long because his role without talented attacking mids is pretty rough and he’s often a scapegoat. Would def be better to judge him with 2-3 talented mids rotating with him.

In terms of Butters your looking at 2026 +27 1sts McCreery and maybe a Degoey (thou they'd want someone younger) maybe a Long
