One player per club over 2027 and 2028.
And any uncontracted player is treated as a free agent even if they are technically not free agents

I want butters really bad but he's not worth the salary cap dent and 3 or 4 first round picks plus probably beau and steene. That's footy suicide. Not many ruckman out there who can take contested marks close to goal and only with a handful of games under his belt

Yep. Zak Butters is a legend, but we've got too many holes to fill to spend all our recruiting chips - salary cap and trade pieces just on one player.

I hoping for either King or Bailey for just salary cap and then cheaper trade for list holes - ala 2022, but with the extra cap space to get a star rather than McStay as the free agent.

I was a big fan of Steene when i first saw his SANFL highlights. He just had something about him. Now hes ripping games to shreds at an age most ruckman are still floundering in the VFL. I think i might have a new man crush.

Where did you hear it? from someone who works at the club? or was it just gossip from another fan? without sounding rude, it's a bit weird to claim these things and only back it up with "just what I heard". For all anyone here knows you're just saying these things for social points.

Even the slightest hint is helpful in determining whether or not that claim is worth putting energy into discussing.

I wasn't saying that's who you are, I was saying that without context behind the statement, it's easy for anyone to come to that conclusion. So it helps to have that context

Sounds like Morris wasn't on the radar at all for the DeMattia pick, only started talking about him for our 2nd.

The dream hinesight play would have been Morris then Freijah and no more forward problems.

Well Dekka wanting Morris and being overruled has proven to be a nonsense so no need to keep repeating it.

IMO, this is why CFC need to go after Bailey, pay too much so Brisbane won't match.... Bailey is a 30 goal 20 possession Forward/Mid, a serious up grade on Beau. Keep first round pick and compensation for Beau and hit the Draft with two top 20 picks to rejuvenate the list.

Bailey is a gun on a good day but he ain’t worth 1.6 or 1.7 million.
For me he plays a lot of nice games but not games he rips apart.
I’d rather get 2 above average players for that price.

LIONS' BAILEY PLANS​

BRISBANE is preparing for all outcomes in its plan to keep in-demand free agent Zac Bailey – including matching an offer – as the two-time premiership player mulls his call.


Adelaide is seen as the frontrunner for Bailey if he chooses to leave the Lions, with AFL.com.au revealing in March the Crows had presented an offer of seven years worth around $10 million for Bailey.


Brisbane has a six-year deal on the table for Bailey worth around the $6-6.5 million mark, with the Lions conceding they are close to their final offer for the 26-year-old.


The Lions will have the choice to match an offer for Bailey if he was to exercise his free agency rights and the club is working through all scenarios in an attempt to keep him, which includes the possibility to force a trade for rival suitors.

Port Adelaide also has strong interest in Bailey and would be in the mix to make him a top target through this year given his South Australian links. Essendon and Collingwood are also keen in Victoria but the Crows have been seen as favourites if he is to leave the Lions, with the dynamic forward expected to address his decision around mid-season.

A newly formed club would surely benefit from his leadership skills.

Agree. Just saying its entirely possibly we just might have to go for cheaper options, which might not be the end of the world.
