Not many kids, who love to get an opportunity to be up close to their heroes, is going to afford $495. It's the times we live in unfortunately

We really need to be drafting with our firsts at this stage (and I don’t think we have enough capital anyway)

Our list is not on a great spot age wise which is well documented. Issue is the A graders (or those who’ve been A graders) outside of Nick are all the wrong side of 30.

If we go to the draft then the time to build those kids means Moore, degoey, Elliot, Maynard etc are approaching the end or gone and then also need replacing once pendles Howe and sidey have. We’ve kept trying to top up but I think long term a couple of years down the ladder with some good picks is actually what the club needs.


I’m not sold on offering multiple firsts for 1 player like butters or king as I don’t think as it stands that’s the difference between a flag or not. We need to find multiple A graders under 25. As it stands we have 1.

Our list management team have their work cut out for them. I don’t think a short term immediate focus is what’s needed.

2x means end of first. That ain’t enough for a highly in demand Butters. Two top ten, probably one high. I suspect pies players required.

As did Bontempelli and Butters , have a feeling he will want Dogs. Hope I'm wrong, would be amazing if we could get him. Absolute gun

Just as easy to say - draft Butters at 18 and then...

Use our $$ to bring in jets as UFAs (or RFAs if we're lucky)
Or use picks to trade wisely for untapped potential
Use our picks to draft our own stars

Dayne Beams anyone? AFL didn’t help us out with him

From my understanding, Beam’s was essentially exiled from the club due to certain actions, that didn’t necessarily break the terms of his contract, which was why we had to pay him out. If Bobby won’t or can’t fulfill his contract obligations I doubt there will be much issue in the club terminating it.

Also would look at trying to prise out one of the plethora of talls the Doggies have , they can't all be getting a game , say a Croft , forget Darcy as he is their jewel in the Crown alongside the Bont .
