I may be crazy, but if Carlton fall away and go full rebuild and we are competitive but missing that key forward missing piece, id look at Harry McKay. I just get the sense he would thrive under someone like McRae.

Not sure Carlton would trade to us, not sure we could offer more than a second or two in the draft, but they could be selling with his value the lowest.

Im not sure King is worth as much as people say. He is class, but not sure he is a big game key forward.

At least King marks, scores goals and we can confirm he is a different person to his twin.

Agree. Hes a shell of his ability at the moment. If Fly can turn Frampton into a premiership FF imagine what he could do with a Coleman medallist. Its all between the ears with Harry. When hes on hes pretty much unstoppable with his height at marking contests. Good mates with a heap of our boys too. I think we could get it done if they wanted to

I absolutely get your thinking, but I see two significant problems with Harry:

1. His mentality and form. Incredibly susceptible to lapses in form and confidence, even within games. Is also built like a tank but plays like a potato gun far too often.

Even if you set that aside and we say Fly turns him into a halfway decent player...

2. He's on a ridiculous contract. Between 1 and 1.3 million until the end of 2030. We could take him if Carlton agreed to pay half his salary, but I don't see the value in bringing in a 29 year old on a 4 year contract when he offers no leadership and a fragile mentality. We're also giving Carlton cap space for a rebuild. Let them suffer.

I'd prefer to pump games into West and Steene and continue to comb the draft and FA.

I think McKay is a very good key forward, playing below his best. Its a risk, but I think if we had McKay in our side this year, assuming Hill comes back to somewhere near his best, I think we would be a shot at the flag.

Blues would have to pay some of his salary. If you think McKay lacks physicality, you obviously haven't watched enough of Ben King. He is not physical at all and rarely crashes packs. His effort has also been questioned a lot over the years. McKay is considerably better physicality wise, than B King.

Did I advocate for Ben King ahead of McKay?

Edit: not trying to start a Barney! I get that some people are all over Ben King. I'm just not personally interested in McKay at this stage of his career. 🙂

Charlie Edwards from the Crows is OOC at the end of the year. He’s going to struggle to get a game in the Crows midfield. He’ll be a player
Adelaide have a weak midfield, that is hardly encouraging

Looking at tall defenders who are ooc.

Butts 195cm 27 yrs old by next season is the obvious one a few clubs lacking lockdown defending will be after his signature, hopefully we have our hat in the ring on that one.

Allir Allir too old? 32 yrs old at seasons end probably 2-3 good seasons in him but has the runs on the board and you know what you'll get.

Jed Busslinger must be a strong target for us. Just turned 22 yrs old 198cm KPD improving every year but still struggling for consistent senior exposure and seemingly behind O'Donnell,Khamis and Lobb as first choice defenders.
25 disposals and 7 rebound 50's going at 88% disposal efficiency in his opening vfl game.

Busslinger is an interesting one. I haven't seen enough of him in action to have a strong opinion on his worth. But the pedigree is strong. If he continued to be stuck in the VFL it would be interesting to see what it would take to get him in a trade: Taken at pick 13 and was considered an elite junior defender vs the fact that he's not getting a game behind several other defenders.

I had a very quick glance at the Dogs BF and they seem to think he needs to put more weight on and will eventually take over from an ageing Lobb.
