Where did the talk about Ed Allan to Gold Coast come from a few days ago? Can't find an article anywhere.

If we can't get a big fish (King or Butters), would like an off season something like:
  • Jed Walter for Allan + 2nd rounder
  • Darcy Wilson for future 1st (which will be pushed back due to Tasmania).
  • Jordon Butts as a Free Agent
Take our 2026 1st rounder to the draft.

Would be extremely happy with an offseason like this.

You're not getting Wilson for that. I doubt Walters either.

My theory is that the Tiges are paying Rioli - hence such a high trade price. Suspect the same with a chunk of Trac's salary.
Melbourne have publicly confirmed that they aren’t paying a cent of Tracs salary at GC. They paid a high price for him because he was contracted and Melbourne wouldn’t let him walk without a kings ransom.

A second rounder for Walter just doesn’t appeal to me at all. He has been incredibly underwhelming this year, specifically insofar as not having developed much.

Butts would be a good pickup. Didn’t realise he was UFA. I’d love him & Wilson.

Swap in Neale and send Allan off to some Coast team for whatever and I’m happy!

I don't have strong views on Walter, but a high draft pick KPF could also end up being Josh Schache or Jack Watts - spending top 10 draft picks on key forwards is fraught with danger and the Suns took that punt.

Approach with caution.

So much drafting on physical attributes I think. Meanwhile Gunston and Logan Morris are killing it. Forward craft and being able to get uncontested marks are what you want for goal kickers. You need a battering ram too though.

Then GC can’t have much cap space surely?

Was Dunstall a lead up forward?

He could lead and did quite often, but he was also strong overhead and more than capable on the ground. Added to that Dunstall had Derm or Curran or Greg Dear or Buckenara et al....all who could give him a chop out if required.

Dunstall also had brilliant delivery from up field. Imagine finding space and leading towards Jarman or Pritchard or Buckenara.

It was a brilliant era that "the Chief" enjoyed at Hawthorn.

it was holding up pretty well in the 1970 Grand Final until Tuddy knocked him out

True that. It was Bobby Rose's stubbornness (loyalty) to his players that cost us though. If he's just taken the two of them off and played Robbie Dean at FF after half time, we'd have still had enough ooompf to get home. As it was we played 16 against 18 for most of the second half and both injured players just mucked everybody else up.

Yeah those couple of teens picks we’ve traded recently would def have netted us generational superstars

More likely the Scharenburg, Freeman picks that set us back. Both injury ridden first rounders, then Stephenson???

Freeman and Scharanberg bad luck with Injury

Stepho had the Talent but sadly nothing else to take advantage of his Talent

Just had a look at that Stepho draft to see who else was there. Bloody Brisbane got Rayner, Bailey, Starcevich and Payne - fair haul.

He kicked about 800 goals clunking them on the lead. Different era without pesky mids and half backs clogging up space and if they tried to it was ok to kill them as long as you didn't raise your elbow.

100% Dunstall was a lead up forward - got first class service.

The Into the Woods podcast mentioned that the Dogs had a player in mind but were put off by his injury, so ended up choosing the Bont. They believe that Scharenberg was the player the Dogs originally were going to select and we would have then got the Bont.

Why would you reinflict this wound…
