AFLPA agreement that nobody returns until November is ridiculous. It should be a simple standard X weeks break from the final game. Let clubs manage it. It's an advantage for finalists to still have their training loads for an extra 5 weeks. Has to change. Written to advantage old blokes in finals teams.

Reckon there’s a few ironic quotes in this interview now…
I was thinking that myself. Especially the bit about getting his off-field life sorted, and how that made him a better leader of the football club.

Dated 11 September 2025.

A week is a long time, and all that.

Not sure where to share these but I took along a few disposable cameras to the Syd Barker again this year and have been sharing the flicks on insta. Thought I’d share here with you all too!

It actually all kinda adds up. Sounds like he's been doing a lot of mental health work on himself or something, and often for people with a certain type of selfless personality, you start to prioritize what it is you want rather than what's best for others.

Just my pure, complete speculation. But I think the interview speaks to a change in mindset that aligns with this request.

Jy’s a really productive player and strong trainer. He wanted to be captain. Not sure he is selfless. He appears to like being in the frame / front and centre.

I am not going to take personal swipes at Jy, I really like him and will be sad when he leaves.

That being said, he has been playing less and less midfield time because he isn't great at the role, sometimes he was good, but not consistently enough for it to matter.
