Rehab
Amiss was running ok but will only kick on his right foot, has left training now.
Worner looks good and ready for a return
Murray, no visible injury and running well
Sturt running more lonely laps, hope he gets a run at some level for all this work
Pearce, not convinced, maybe they have the cotton wool around him but it’s hard to believe he is a week away from playing.
Riddle just a small session before rejoining main training.

Can also add no sign of Young but Darcy, Switta and Ryan all in full training …

Aarrgg no Hayden Young at training!

Lovely skills from Simpson hitting M Reid amongst several players from 45m away, hopefully we are able to see this during the year.
O Murphy with big knee strapping and big limp but in main training.
The team is training mid to forward connection and it looks great we “should” see an improvement.
It’s noticeable that the team is bigger and stronger than previous years, but availability is going to be crucial as always.

Switta just joined in with the rehab group

Good intensity during the drills:

Cooper Simpson picked the eyes out of a corridor kick - thing of beauty
Darcy lace out kick to a leading forward directly in front - big applause from his team mates
Clark nailed sharp with a great tackle

Sums it up perfectly 👍

(But big thanks to all those who get down there to share their observations!)

Well that’s a wrap for me folks

Freddy’s injury aside that was an enjoyable session with both the intensity and skills generally at a high level
As Freoextra said there was a strong focus on forward of centre connection all morning

Apart from the usual suspects standouts for me were Wags/Walker/Chappy and Nicholls - I think we have a real player on our hands here as he’s impressed me at every session I’ve attended

Cheers

so Freddy injured, Young not at training and Cox no chance. Wish I didn't read this thread this morning
Haha, come on, you don’t just want to be fed the “everything is fine” from the club ( especially if you place a bet).

You'd expect they'd be trying to get Ryan up to scratch for round 1 if there's a chance we're going to be missing little Cox and Pearce
I'm much more confident inexperienced KPDs can cope if Ryan is in the team tbh. Don't think JL would be risking not playing Ryan in this scenario if he's had three games at Peel, even if on limited minutes.

J.Cameron not playing this week and there's still a chance he doesn't play against us. I'm reasonably confident our back up KPDs won't be too far off what's required to cover Neale and/or a bunch of mid-sized forwards tbh. If anything you'd probably consider just playing Ryan and one of McDonald, Davies or Draper based on the likely match ups if Cameron was ruled out mid week.

It’s not all doom and gloom

If we believe the club (I know, I know) then Youngy is available for Rd1 which give us our first choice Ruck and Midfield group

I think we will be missing a couple of forwards in Freddy and potentially Switta as he didn’t convince me this morning

The big issue is our key backs. I agree with you that Cox will be missing as he hasn’t been on the track since the Eagles game. Pearce I’m not sure about but he did bugger all this morning really
We do however have all of our ‘second string’ KPD fit and firing so do have some options …

Ryan is not fully fit. Had shoulder surgery in preseason.

Hopefully he plays a full game this weekend for Peel, but I don't think we should rush him back if he is not fit.

Played a lot last year half fit, and I think it hurt us.

Agree re last year, but even underdone, I think I'd still take his 180 odd games experience over Davies/Draper. Again, assuming Cox and Pearce both don't get up - thats a good 250 games experience we're down. If things get a bit hot and heavy down back, it might get a bit dire if our tall backs are a mix of Omac/Davies/Draper.

But there's a fair bit of the unknown in the mix too. How far actually behind is Ryan, is Cameron playing etc.

Will be praying for the Moose this week
