Training 2026 Training Reports

Haha, come on, you don’t just want to be fed the “everything is fine” from the club ( especially if you place a bet).
Gotta take the good with the bad when it comes to training reports, any information relayed onto here is hugely appreciated either way, thanks to yourself and the other reporters for your time and efforts

Freddy hurt and doesn’t look good - he punched the ground a couple of times after injury. Might be ankle?
Pity as it’s the most involved and lively he’s been this session …
Unfortunately, Frederick haters about to learn exactly how important his repeat sprints are to our structure and rebound.

Ryan is not fully fit. Had shoulder surgery in preseason.

Hopefully he plays a full game this weekend for Peel, but I don't think we should rush him back if he is not fit.

Played a lot last year half fit, and I think it hurt us.
He's played with Peel twice.

As you say hopefully he can play a full game this week. As a fan I'm certainly not ruling him out of round one.

Was not aware he had played that much.

Do you know how he went?

How close to full fitness
It was still limited minutes in both games.

From what understand the preference was given to giving players the appropriate amount of minutes rather than picking what will be our best side in round one.

Picking Ryan would've meant that someone else would've played only a part game with the AFL boys. Ryan played the same amount of minutes he otherwise would've played just at the lower level.

Similar thing happened with Darcy. Playing him would've significantly limited the time Cox played.

Plus I'm pretty sure it's much easier to justify players that didn't play AFL last week to play WAFL thos week. Ryan and Darcy will need the extra minutes thos week and/or later on.

Is the practice match for peel today anyone going down to report on the rookies?

I wonder what time they are playing because it's hit 40C now. Would have some recovery management if they're having to show they can go flat out to make Rd 1 next Saturday.

Peel Thunder facebook page from yesterday's post says the WAFL men's intraclub match was due to start at 1.10pm.

Skipper, Switta, Ryan, Darcy, Warner all on track - given it’s only warm ups

But ….

No Youngy
Plus no small Cox (still unsighted since doing his calf) and Frederick (not surprised).

No more bullshit Freo what has happened to Young it’s not good whatever it is and Cox must have really done his calf!

Cox only hurt the calf like 17 days ago so if it is typical length calf he should be back on track within the next week or so...

Pearce is the only rehab player today, hoping it’s a gentle introduction and he joins main training later (this does happen on occasion)

I would say it is usual to be unsighted at training in that time and not even walking or any rehab on field.
