If any one thinks Sturt is over weight, I suggest you go chat to him. As I said, I was within touching distance, in fact he offered his hand to shake. He isn't over weight.

It’s likely a sarcastic comment. 12 kg is a serious amount of weight to lose. From all reports he has used the time off legs to build his upper body and added quite a bit muscle mass which was needed.

Welcome all to the 2026 Freo Buddy Draft!

The Buddy Draft is an opportunity to adopt a player from the 2026 squad and become their biggest fan on here (and elsewhere if you like, idk). Some people prefer to be superstars by association and choose the biggest names and highest performers in the team, while others like to root for the underdog and advocate for those considered on the fringes. Underperformers. Scapegoats even. There's no right or wrong selections, it's whoever you would like spend a season being in the corner of.

On a different note is it just me or does Wagner look like he's stepped up more than ever and look vital to Freo taking the next step to making top 4?

Silly me had him on the scrapheap at the start of last season. But his second half of the year in particular was awesone. The sort of guy whos never going to post big numbers but if you watch him in the clinches hes so important to getting it out to our star players and also when defending the other way. Cant wait to see how hes improved again

Have to admit a little feeling of smugness given I've been big on Wagner since his first game with us having seen exactly what he had the ability to offer us. He was a line breaker, risk taking rebounder when we had none but his risks often backfired early on. Even when heavily hated on here I backed him in so I'm very happy for him to be reaching some of his potential now. I hope we pay him well and he genuinely seems incredibly grateful for the lifeline. I'd be a bit surprised if he chose a slightly overs offer over us but I also understand a young family may want to be around other close family so it's neither unheard of nor unspeakable if he went down that path.

Between him and Treacy I've stubbornly backed in a few winners at long odds through the worst of their online ratings. Doesn't quite make up for the terrible draft night call about Serong and Jackson scepticism mind you...

Can't believe I didn't get down to a carlton training this week. I have seen some deplorable skills work at freo pre-season training but I've never seen them kick it into the crowd during routine drills, several times in a row. Gonna be a fun wild year for us
