No surprise
Sydney were always going to get it.
The question is why Victoria get zero games.
It seems likely there was no money on the table.
What else can anyone expect considering how the Labor party has bankrupted this state.

Sydney getting the final was always going to happen. That's not really to big story here.

Looks like there are only 7 venues - Sydney x2, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Townsville.

Sydney centric. Feel it's just to safe.

Nil Melbourne. Strange. This story around the Rebel sounds strange. State gov didn't bid for any? Hopefully more comes out.

Brisbane reported told Sunsorp to small for major finals? Yet big enough for a Lions test? Easily one of the best rugby stadiums in the world.

No Canberra games. ACT Government showing no interest in major sporting comps. Women's World Cup. T20 World Cup. The list grows.

No games in smaller areas like Wollongong, Gosford or Launceston like in 2003.

Little disappointed in this news.

Venues sorted. Last minute deal for Melbourne.

Ground TBC, the MCG is too big for pool games IMHO. Have to wait and see.

It's shame there are no one off games in smaller markets like in 2003. The game in Launceston was awesome.

Locally here in Canberra ACT government didn't want any games. Real shame. They don't want to be involved in major sporting comps. Nil 22 T20 WC games, nil 23 WWC games. The stadium doesn't help as well.

Haven't had the Wallabies in ages either.

Agree, AAMI Park should be used at least for a couple of non Wallaby or AB pool matches. MCG a couple of ro16 matches and a QF would be my guess.

As for Canberra, the stadium situation is a joke. Not just for Rugby but all rectangle sports, all three codes would benefit immensely from a new civic stadium that would have an Adelaide Oval equivalent effect on crowds and ensures Canberra gets regular major events.

Canberrans see sport as part of the patriarchy and they will have no place supporting it

The best Canberra Stadium experience this year was the Lions Brumbies game. The traffic was terrible, like any event over 15k. Tour buses with Lions fans had to stop of the side of the highway next to the ground, so the fans could walk through the mud and bush to make the game on time.

You have this growing and developing city with a food and bar scene, transport, hotels, etc along with the National Triangle. Don't get why you wouldn't want to show that off. /rant.

Definitely mate. Re. the buses taking the Lions fans to Bruce that sums it the absurdity of the current set up perfectly.
All the public transport goes through civic so ppl wouldnt need to drive if the stadium was at least within a 15 minute walk to civic. Add that to the restaurants and bars who'd thrive off the business they'd get from matchday crowds.

Raiders would average close to 20k even when they're not doing that well and Brums would see a decent increase in crowds. I reckon an Aleague side with the new stadium would do well too.

Manuka, that's a trickier one with the nimbys but a decent upgrade there could facilitate a Canberra AFL and/or BBL side. Families and young people with time to kill on weekends would be all in on sports imo.
