Carlton recruit Caleb Marchbank says having full-back of the century Stephen Silvagni as a big fan has done wonders for his confidence.

Silvagni has long been an admirer of Marchbank, recruiting the key defender to Greater Western Sydney when he was the club’s list manager back in 2014.

Ed Curnow? Nuh, Marchbank has been under much more pressure and shown more IMO.

A key position player getting 18 and 17 possies with a few shots at goal is almost unheard of for Carlton.

Think you might need to counterbalance that with the 63 scoring shots and 106 inside 50s the opposition have managed across the two games; he's had opportunities.

Dunno why but Marchbank reminds me strongly of Rance.

Certainly found plenty of the ball & has demonstrated that he is a good mark. I think he just needs to play the percentages at the moment. The time will come when he can take the game on a bit more.

You're not supposed to get 21 possessions @ 86% (10 intercepts), 9 marks (3 contested) and 5 rebound 50s unless you are an upper echelon, absolute elite key defender.

You're only 20, man.
