22 for this week?

I don't understand what all you guys see in Blackwell. IMO he's not even worth persisting with and he should be dropped when the opportunity comes. He's not fast, his skill level is nothing special. Basically there is nothing that makes him any better than anyone else, Can someone tell me if Blackwell played much towards the end of last year(i can't remember)? if not. was he injurerd? If no to both then he's looking very unlikely to be playing with us next year.

I don't rate the bloke at all, but hey, 6 or 7 BOG's in the 2's should be enough to command a farewell game at the very least, especially if it means giving Bentick the necessary gametime to get finals eligibility and if Scotland and Carrazzo need to be rested.

I guess the team structure will depend on the availability of Scotland. I'm not worried about Carrazzo for this game.

Scotland Thornton Austin
Waite Bower Grigg
Walker Stevens Simpson
Fisher Kruezer Houlihan
Cloke Fevola Gibbs
Hampson, Judd, Murphy
Anderson, Browne, Russell, Armfield
The make up of the team will depend on what attitude we are going to take into the game.
Will it be an offensive approach and let the Hawks worry about our FF & midfield etc or will it be defensive and we go in structured to worry about Buddy. This is the key! If we are set up to play mainly offensive footy then Waite is the the important cog. If the others can at least keep Buddy at a reasonable level then that allows us to play Waite more forward more often. That will worry the Hawks and they will have to restructure accordingly. I'm not sure if they have someone who can stay with Waite all day.

If the 22 from last week are right to go I wouldn't change the side. I don't think giving a game to Jackson and Blackwell is necessary for the football department to determine whether to keep them on next year or not - by this time of the year they would have pretty much made up their mind anyways. Plus you don't give send-off matches to players with their respective time of service either.

Also, anyone heard the rumours Hadley's been playing injured (requiring injections to suit up for the Ants), even though he would prefer to have a season-ending op?

Not sure what people's obsessions with Hadley is, he may have been in Brisbane's premership side's midfield but was probably the worst player in it, we don't need a slow player in the side. This guy needs to prove he can play good footy against good sides in AFL level and that his body will hold up.

Will be interesting to see how Bentick goes. He goes well when he has a slow opponent to play on but good teams generally don't have that. He did an ok job on a half fit Simon Black last week but I see him getting smashed this week. Unfortunatly I don't think he is capable of performing against good sides which is what he will have to do to win finals & premerships.

I wonder who get's Franklin and Roughead. They will probably put Waite on Franklin then realise that won't work as Waite, while much improved, seems to get a bit lost on players like this at times. Thornton will probably get Roughead, but it would be nice to see Bower given a big job one one of them, is athletic enough for Buddy and has a better defencive brain than Waite, just lacks strength. Would be good to see another tall defender come in like Austin, he was named as an emergancy so it's likely. Unfortunatly our best matchup for Buddy (O'hAilpin) is injured.

As unlikely as it might be we are a good chance to beat the Hawks but I'll be happy if we just do well against them.
