Listened to his interview on Talking Footy.
Said he's waiting to sit down at the end of the year with his manager. Met with Xavier Campbell today. Said still every chance he will stay at Bombers and even said that his discussions may be fast tracked when he gets an idea of the direction of the club and the new coach.
Nothing about that interview suggested he was staying.

7mate at 7:30. Tom Browne likes to hype his interviews/stories, so even though he says Buckets is a "ripper", in all likelihood at this point he still hasn't said anything concrete. As you might expect.
I'd imagine if it was anything breaking story worthy the club would have been called for comment and we'd know what Jake said either way. I'm just expecting the normal "Just waiting for the season to end and I'll then weigh up my options" as he's walking to his car.

Yep it was a nothing interview really. Actually it was a car door stop interview, so what happened was Tom Browne stalked the car park and rolled the camera and started asking questions as soon he got out of the car, not a pre planned interview or an interview of any substance at all.

He's staying. He is not a smart man and he was told to parrot a statement given to him by his dead-shit manager, who has clearly been trying to fleece the club.

"we gonna ah sit tight and ahh at the end of the year and sid down with the ar manager and ar end of the year and um sight tightt and end of the year."

But he went off script and when asked about his chat with Xavier this afternoon, and has made a decision and signed.

EDIT: just to be clear he didn't actually come out and say he made a decision and signed, but as an expert* in body language and footballer psychology it was very clear to me

I know this probably means nothing but was anyone else a bit encouraged that he was the one who chaired off Chappy on the weekend?
well we have been told that he has become more ENGAGING and stepping up in meetings !! - would have been good from say round 3 this year instead of round 21....

maybe the other players couldn't be stuffed and thought well maybe Jake has done f...all all year so you carry him off Jake

and incidentally almost dropped him too....

Maybe he will turn his back on footy and go back to cricket? He was one of Victoria's most promising junior fast bowlers before going down the footy path. Was a gun bowler but his back issues contributed to the decision to opt for footy.
Maybe why he is/was hesitant to play as a forward.. getting crunchedat CHF not great for the hammer and tack

He's definitely better suited at CHB (like Hurley). Whilst hooker is also a better defender he is more durable at taking the hits as a key forward.

the problem we have is all 3 are better backman. but can we play them all down there. hooker has looked decent up forward having close to 40 shots in 9 weeks . but problem is we have missed him so much down back. the new coach definitely has a big call to make on who he plays up forward!!

They say every script has a a narrative being pushed by a party.

Who was pushing the narrative in the paper about him swearing at the club three weeks running? Who stands to gain from this narrative?

Why?
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you I just wanna see your reasoning.
What would we give up?

It's B4L. There is no reasoning :D

But sure, It'd totally be a win/win trading for a player who will take up 10% of your salary cap and give you 30 goals in return, while driving Hooker back home after we can't afford him.
