Shouldn't he wait till we actually get pick 5?
Clubs are into players, and have met with many players by now. Especially at the top end, cos you have a fair idea of who is going to go where in the draft order.

On the saints board... apparently dodoro is flat out refusing to trade unless it's pick 5, and will trade JC to hawks on thursday if they don't offer it. Apparently saints meeting with carlisle's managment to form their next move tonight..

I don't know if I believe it or not, but we'd have to be 100% sure that Carlisle will go to hawks over the psd because if not, we're going down dangerous territory.

I think the threat of playing at the bears will snap Jake into quick action well before then.

The Saints panic and give pick 5?

The timeline has been rather amusing.

-Thread on main board, off to carltank. PSD it is.
-north show interest
-saints show interest
-carlisle announces he wants to leave
-nominates saints
-bains sais "pick 5 is not going to be traded for a straight swap"
-saints fans say "HAHAHA LOL NO PICK 5 FOR YOU"
-I correct multiple fans saying he said straight swap, didn't rule out it being traded
-get called essedope fan
-trade period rolls out
-dodoro comes out, public pressure on saints
-saints offer pick 5
-me, even though I knew bains meant straight swap, set out onto the main board to right the wrongs of saints fans saying we won't get pick 5
-saints fans procede to tell me the exact same thing I told them 1 week earlier, acting like they knew

- now we just need pick 5 to ess

If we've rejected the pick 10 it's obviously because we really have our eye set on someone at pick 5.

I just hope he is willing to go to the hawks if it comes to it, because if he's not the saints get power
If he goes to Hawks we still don't have 5, so whoever we wanted at 5 will be gone by 15 anyway. Big move if it is true they rejected 10 and Dodoro must be confident at getting what he wants out of this.

Yeah, fair call, but I still think the 15 and 18 deal trumps the current saints offer. Pick 10 is weird tho, I'd rather 10 than both of those picks.

But it may be because we are planning on 4 or 5 draftees this year, and we don't want to go into the 4th round..

15 and 18 is quite a lot better than 10 on it's own though.

5>15 and 18, but 10<15 and 18.

This can only look bad for the Saints.
As soon as Hawthorn made that fair offer, anything less than that offered by the Saints just makes them look foolish.
Surely this has to be well noted by Carlisle and his management.
The more they snub their nose and low ball, the more it has to fall into Essendons and Hawthorns favour.

You are forgetting Carlisle management publicly endorsed that deal, calling it a "fair deal"

I doubt a player manager would honestly consider it fair. He may state it publicly for his own biased reasons but indoors would be viewed differently.
I'm not sure about jake himself, but I have no doubt his manager wants him to get to the saints. It would look bad on him if he couldn't get his client to his preferred destination I would of thought, even though it really is out of his hands now.

Feel we are sending a message after getting lowballed a few times now

Yep Dodoro has had enough and who could blame him.

Anyone else jumping back and forth between the boards? I find it so interesting seeing the different narratives that different groups of supporters spin. It fully confirms the confirmation bias theory.

Just like Pies conjured up the story that Luke Ball was mistreated saints fans have already clung onto the fact that Freeman is leaving because he has been medically mismanaged.

It is going to be interesting to look back once all is said and done and see which emerging ideologies finds its place in trade week folklore.

It's rather entertaining. We've conversed fairly well with Melbourne, Brisbane and West Coast fans for the most part about the other off-season deals.

If you've rejected 10 I'm assuming it's 5 or bust. Will make for an interesting conclusion to trade week. Lot depends on Jake and his management now.
Given the proposed deal for 10 amounts to you losing 5 and getting Carlisle but not giving us 5 (which I assume is in a concerted effort to screw us) then I'm pretty sure we could work something out for 5.

Really don't understand how saints could possibly be getting a first rounder back to them from port in that trade.

Honestly doesn't matter to me though, I only care about what comes into the club and what leaves it... if port want to pay overs all the best..

I agree with this opinion, but only because it's the same as the one I had formed previously.
