Sorry been away for a few days.

How have St K offered us pick 10? They swapped some picks??
Nope just an unverified trade suggestion involving port and gc. It seems every media org is trying to out do each other by involving more clubs and making it more complicated. By thursday I expect every single other club to be involved in this trade of jake carlisle to the saints.

thread needs a curve ball... Let's say Jake gets the spooks on and wanted to stay... Putting aside some ethics and douchness... Would we pay him what he is Saint seeking...?

I'm reminded of Dustin Martin but light on facts as I didn't really follow the incident...

Swans are apparently involved now according to the age, because this deal is insane.

The general idea is the swans would give the saints 14, the saints would give us 5, we'd get carlisle and the swans would get picks from both of us (saints give 24, we're looking to give a late 2nd/early 3rd) to give them extra points for their academy shizz. The problem is, our pick 44 ain't gonna do the job since it doesn't give the swans extra points.

Thus:
Pick 14 = 1,161 points.
Pick 24 = 785 points.
C = something we need to give up.

Pick 14 is less than pick 24 + c

1,161 <= 785 + c

1,161 - 785 <= c

376 <= c

C => 376

378 = pick 43

C => pick 43

pick 43 gives swans a 2 point increase
pick 42 gives swans a 19 point increase
pick 41 gives swans a 36 point increase
pick 40 gives swans a 53 point increase
pick 39 gives swans a 70 point increase
pick 38 gives swans an 89 point increase
pick 37 gives swans a 107 point increase

So in order to satisfy the deal, we'd need to upgrade our pick 44 (somehow) to something around 37-40.

Thus:

110 = the percent of which I am committed to avoiding the crippling number of assignments I have due this week.

Why do they think any of this is easier?

Also I am now insane.
What happens if we send pick our third and fourth round picks? 44 and 57?

If we have actually rejected pick 10 then i'm somewhat surprised as it seems like a reasonable offer. Certainly pick 10 is miles better than 5 for us and 2 early 2nd rounders going back to St.Kilda (which was a joke of an offer mind you). If the Hawks deal is actually solid then i can understand because i do prefer 15 and 18 to 10 if that was the whole equation (if we could get 5 picks 25 or under that would be pretty bloody good). Nonetheless the risk of psd and of trade offers being withdrawn at the last moment seems far scarier than getting a slightly undervalued pick.

Overall i just want us to get a trade done asap before time begins to be a significant factor. I don't want to risk getting a really poor offer just to get a slightly better one especially when we've done so well this trade period as a whole. Would be fine with pick 10 or pick 5 + second rounder back their way. Hawks deal or straight 5 would obviously be ideal but I don't want us to play this too risky - there's too many unknowns for mine.

Well "losing" Giles helps EFC salary cap wise as did "losing" Melksham. I believe Stanton's contract is on hold as he's happy to either front load it or back load depending on what suits the club to retain or recruit new talent.

Firstly, can't see this happening at all.
But more importantly, it'd be extremely unfair to the likes of Hooker and co for him to be on that kind of coin. Even if he backflipped I'd still move him on.

Someone on Twitter being quite clever with how it gets done.
That one is actually brilliant
Why are we swapping picks 23/24, and 44/45 with the saints though? Doesn't it work if the saints send pick 24,45 and 63 (total of 1244 points) directly to Sydney for pick 14, and Our (separate) trade with the Saints should just be Carlisle + 57 for 5?

Sydney getting involved? Not there yet, but something to work on?

The problem is that Essendon's third round pick is not sufficient compensation for the Swans, with Sydney only willing to move pick 14 if it receives an adequate number of points.
Should be able to make this work - just swap one of our second rounders for a later second rounder and an upgrade our third rounder and hand it to Sydney - or a variation on that theme.

This one is promising - dare I say it, everyone wins?

Anyone else jumping back and forth between the boards? I find it so interesting seeing the different narratives that different groups of supporters spin. It fully confirms the confirmation bias theory.

Just like Pies conjured up the story that Luke Ball was mistreated saints fans have already clung onto the fact that Freeman is leaving because he has been medically mismanaged.

It is going to be interesting to look back once all is said and done and see which emerging ideologies finds its place in trade week folklore.
