im sure "play the near 200cm key position player who can take amazing marks and was drafted as a forward and took 12 marks in his 2nd game of league football as a forward in the forward line" was an idea that thompson thought long and hard about
Yeah, the "take the best defender out of the defence" idea was a really easy one for him.

If only Bomber hadn't lost the players.
There was two 'honesty' sessions conducted about 5-6 weeks ago.. where several things were discussed. Bombers attitude towards certain game plans changed.. the players got some honest feedback and the situation was resolved.

I thought you would have known all about it.....

It's a shame we didn't pick Lucas Kane instead. Sack Dodoro.
this is a bit of a dumb comparison considering it's melksham and lucas who are basically in direct competition with each other.

however i have a memory of either ant555 or saladin saying that even if they had kept pick 16 in that draft, instead of the willams/24 trade, essendon still would have gone tall (so either Carlisle or Griffiths), and obviously Fyfe went at 20, so that could have been a fun little alternative world game

Well you seem to know everything.

I'm sure we are ALL enjoying the form of Carlisle right now.. and if you look at early season games vs today and last week.. there is a noticeable difference in the way Carlisle is playing the role..

The key is to have enough flexibility that if opp. coaches watch the tape and adjust their defence.. Carlisle can still have a huge impact. Right now the signs are very good.

Playing him down back for 2.5 games has really turned his season around.. just gave him a chance to get a 'feel' for it again.. and feel useful etc etc.. hopefully now there is no turning back with either his form or the teams...

As I said to you countless times when you were sacking coaches left right and centre. Jake always had the ability to play forward, all he needed was the confidence and self belief.

I said to wait on him, and now look what we have.

Sometimes patience on players is a good thing to have, it's what makes good coaches into premiership coaches.

In other words, good coaching from Bomber. The guy that "lost the players" according to you. Correct?

I wanted one coach moved back to his old role.. and I do agree that Carlisle had the ability to play forward (see my posts last year and in the pre-season)..

MY point was that he needed to 'go back' and find FORM.. which is EXACTLY what happened. So thank you.

How about your post this season where you said he's not a forward and never will be?

From what I've heard.. it wasn't Bomber that adjusted the leading patterns... and second it is my impression that the 'honesty' (nor sure what you would call them) sessions sorted out the issues that were there... ie there is no further issues.

Look at the dates when I suggested that the players were unhappy with Bomber.. it isn't like I said it in the last 30 days.. so you are a little out of date with it. In fact it was BEFORE Carlisle was moved back for a couple of weeks to FIND FORM. Hmmm I wonder if there was something in that....

C'mon Rines, you are allowed to be wrong. I am more often than not and accept it.

You wanted Bomber sacked on the spot, claimed Jake hated him and wanted to be traded if he didn't get moved back.

It was never just to find form and back forward, it was back or nothing.
