How about your post this season where you said he's not a forward and never will be?
I still don't believe forward is his best position. Today was great.. last week was fantastic and I will be more than happy for him to float forward and contribute regularly... like an old fashion swing man.

Right now we need him forward and he has found some great form.. which is FANTASTIC for the fortunes of the team WE love..

C'mon Rines, you are allowed to be wrong. I am more often than not and accept it.

You wanted Bomber sacked on the spot, claimed Jake hated him and wanted to be traded if he didn't get moved back.

It was never just to find form and back forward, it was back or nothing.
I'm wrong often.. often.. often.

Yep.. Bomber either need to change or go.. he changed.

Carlisle wanted/needed to go back.. and guess what? HE WENT BACK for a couple of weeks and FOUND FORM...

But I thought his career was destroyed playing forward.
Far out.. I forget most of you are high school students.

At the time.. Carlisle was slipping FURTHER and FURTHER out of form and struggling MENTALLY with the challenge of playing forward. This had the potential to have a devastating effect on Carlisle's career.

Carlisle was given some specialist help, some feedback, given a few weeks in defence to find form and rebuild his confidence and MENTAL strength.. and is now playing excellent footy up forward... (like he did for patches last year too)..

Not rocket science to work out what turned his season around...

Actually he was struggling with the putrid delivery.

Absolutely that too.. I think we talked about that mid year too..

Our midfield was not delivering the ball well to ANY forwards at the time.. in fact our entire forward structure sucked a big one.

I understand that every single other person in the world has that view.. phone explained that I am the only person to hold my view.. but that is ok with me.

I think it was probably a 60/40 split between his form and forward craft AND the poor delivery from up the ground. But that is my sole opinion that no one shares.. and nor do they need too.

I'll stick my hand up and say that I wanted him in defence, but today showed that he can play either. Well done to him
That is the great/best part.. if he can play both ends of the ground with equal ability.. then our flexibility will be immense.. very good signs for the club moving forward...

Happily we will now never know whether he is a better forward or backman. He may moonlight back to mix things up, but the writing is all over the wall now. As Bomber said, he and JD will be the forward line of our future. If TBC comes good in the ruck, then adding Ryder to that mix makes for some tasty opposition coaching nightmares...

Probably should point out that I have #22 on my EFC jumper.. and he is my fave player.. so seeing him return to form and play this well is just making me very very happy.

Too right it is not a time to argue.. we survived the 'upset' frenzy to record a vital win that helps our chances of playing finals.. life is good.

I still believe we can do some serious damage if we make the finals.. on our day we can match it with any team.

Look, nothing shits me more than people trying to rub it in about things you're obviously happy about (I can think of a certain poster who was trying to make everyone feel bad about us beating Port) and you're obviously as stoked about Jake's form as the rest of us, but you're wrong on this one. No harm in having a player prove you wrong by showing some career best form, it happens to all of us.

Carlisle's issue was confidence-based, and the confidence issue was that he was doing all the right things, and the ball was going sideways instead of to him. Everyone who talks about his revival says the same thing. It was reiterated on ABC again tonight after the game. People say "post-sub game" when talking about his confidence coming back, but that coincided with the bye and the full ground training drills where kicking backwards or sideways (a genuine switch excepted) would have you basically sent off the track. Our ball movement has looked a hell of a lot better (in patches) since then, and it's no coincidence that Joe and Jake are playing better footy since then as well.

Spot on. People calling you out every time Jake plays well up forward is bog average IMO.
