A North fan called up SEN before. "Wayne Carey was my favourite player of all time. The best I've ever seen. His marking was completely unrivaled among anyone I've seen in my life. Jake Carlisle will be better."
Carlisle's marking (whether forward or back) has been 'elite' for two years now.. so it is an interesting point.. hard to disagree that Carlisle could end up on the same level as Carey...

Having said that.. as much as I hate/d Carey.. he was friggen epic for a long long time.

Serious question.. is there a better reader of the ball in flight that Carlisle in the game? Very rarely misreads the drop of the ball imho...

There's a difference between responding to a post when it's topical and trying to rub people's noses in it week after week.
Well I'm pretty sure I've never rubbed anyone's nose in anything week after week Ben so I guess you must be talking about other people.

Also, I think it's pretty topical.

I don't think there's really an argument for Carlisle's career trajectory to be even somewhat similar to Duck.
I mean, a great afternoon yes, but we all remember when permission form Kyle kicked 8.

When Carey was 22 he was the AA captain and had already won 2 B&Fs.
Even though we're quoting a North supporter we'll be the ones that get laughed at for it being a topic of conversation.

I think what impressed me straight away with Carlisle was his marking. It was phenomenal for a young kid playing afl. He stuck nearly everything. He is in the elite when it comes to marking in the competition.

Early this season I was as frustrated as most thinking I don't think him up forward was working and he should probably move back. But we knew that our forward entry was shocking. In saying that jake wasn't positioning or leading well in the forward line.

But our change of game plan and a growing confidence in our forward structure has seen jake grow and grow. It has been magnificent to watch so far. You need 2 great big forwards to win a flag. Jake and joe give us that.

Why oh why did he handball off to Myers in the 2nd quarter 35 metres straight in front? Was a bit of a momentum swing after that play. Sorry just wanted to mention it. He won us the game so I am not being too critical here.

From what I've heard.. it wasn't Bomber that adjusted the leading patterns... and second it is my impression that the 'honesty' (nor sure what you would call them) sessions sorted out the issues that were there... ie there is no further issues.

Look at the dates when I suggested that the players were unhappy with Bomber.. it isn't like I said it in the last 30 days.. so you are a little out of date with it. In fact it was BEFORE Carlisle was moved back for a couple of weeks to FIND FORM. Hmmm I wonder if there was something in that....

I call total and utter bullshit as far as any disharmony between coach and players was concerned.

There are a lot of conversations that are had and needed to be had. It doesn't mean that there was any issues it just means that the lines of communication needed to be addressed.

There have been significant changes in personnel in the last 6 weeks and a clear improvement on the way in which the players are implementing the instructions they are give.

The players did not tell Bomber that they didn't like the game plan and wanted to change (which is what you seem to be suggesting) for the simple reason that Bomber has always voiced his displeasure at the static nature of play and inability to know when to take risks that plagued rounds 4 to 9 (or whatever it was).

As I said to you countless times when you were sacking coaches left right and centre. Jake always had the ability to play forward, all he needed was the confidence and self belief.

I said to wait on him, and now look what we have.

Sometimes patience on players is a good thing to have, it's what makes good coaches into premiership coaches.
But you see Don, how could a 2 time premiership coach possibly know more than posters on BF??

Just proves a point that if your a 22yo key position players don't get settled in a position, because your coach might just think you will be more value at the other end of the ground..

Ben, she's incessantly and single mindedly banged on about how disastrous a move this was without a shred of introspection for the first half of the season, every. *******. week. And there's still no acceptance that she was wrong. Also, given the last 2 weeks, I think it's pretty topical.

I didn't say a thing about you.
Oh okay. It was just that you quoted my post which I took as an implication that I was rubbing someone's nose in something week after week since that what your reply said.

Actually I can't recall anyone rubbing anyone's nose in anything on this board week after week. Maybe I need to pay more attention to this board.

Why the need to tell someone they're wrong rather than enjoy one of our own players' career best form.
