Player Watch #22: Josh Caddy - Retired

He's not the fastest but he has time and composure when he gets the ball. That's something we need in our side, the ability to absorb the pressure and deliver to the right option - instead of shitting yourself and giving it to somebody in a worse position.
He is one of our few that welcomes the body conatct which means when he releases the ball the receiver can get away with less pressure.

He is going to be huge for us

Though, I watched last night and thought, why didn't we just draft Nankervis with pick 32 four years ago instead off giving to Carlton for Hamson?
Then again, always count on Sydney to properly develop a young talent.
Went to the best ruck development school in the league. He'd be Angus Graham if we drafted him.

It's a bit like Griff is going to be so much better without Vickery in the team.
Myth!

Do you base that off one pre-season game? I'd personally rather wait for a decent sample size of home and away games with our new game style before shooting my mouth off.

The Season has yet to start...and you know that for a fact already!!!
Nobody knows anything for fact when trying to predict a players future, however, the fact Griff has been unable to deliver consistently with or without Vickery in the side is a fair indication he is unlikely to deliver to a standard required for RFC get good value from him. If he is good enough he should be able to make his mark regardless of the players around him. Friday was another example of him being just very ordinary. Sadly we improved on the day when he was off the ground.

Griffiths was fine on Friday considering he is coming off limited pre season. Better then Lloyd, lennon and found more ball then jack. Kicked a goal and pinched in the ruck

Have to agree there...watched the game and thought Griff did ok and didn't get banged up competing...lets see what he has to offer in the coming rounds of footy...
A lot to like about our win...a team effort...not left for the usual few to carry the side and end banged up before the season starts...
Bet a few sides are a tad wary of us after our win...we can only get better...

Well our foward pressure was improved and we managed to score nearly 100 points

In significantly less game time.

Richmond’s mature-age, midfield recruit Josh Caddy was a member of an exclusive group of players last year.

Caddy, in what was to be his final season at Geelong, averaged more than 20 disposals and a goal a game.

He finished with 21 goals from 18 appearances – an average of 1.2 per game. And, he averaged 20.2 disposals per match.

There were only 10 players throughout the entire competition, who achieved the choice 20-plus disposals and one goal or more average in the 2016 season (based on a minimum of five games played).

Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs): 24.4 disposals, 1.0 goals
Josh Caddy (Geelong): 20.2 disposals, 1.2 goals
Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong): 31.7 disposals, 1.0 goals
