Nick Blakey
Nick Blakey is a prodigious talent with a laser-sharp left boot, an outstanding overhead ability and searing pace. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy product booted 21 goals in 19 games in a brilliant debut season en route to winning the club’s 2019 Rising Star award, and while he added a lively element to the forward line last year, he’s likely to play on a wing or in the midfield in 2020. Nick is the son of former Fitzroy and North Melbourne champion John Blakey, who’s had a variety of roles on the Swans’ coaching panel since 2006.

Nick Blakey
DOB: 27 February 2000
DEBUT: 2019
DRAFT: #10, 2018 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: University Of NSW-Eastern Suburbs (NSW)

The Roos can now focus on another father-son prospect who has to choose between three clubs, with premiership player Robert Scott's son Bailey eligible to join North and Geelong.

But he is also tied to Gold Coast through its Academy, and on the weekend had 22 disposals and kicked a goal for the Suns. Scott is a hard-working midfielder with neat skills.

Did lol.

Great news! Can't wait to see him in the coming years! How long do we think it'll take for him to break into the team? I've heard it takes taller guys a bit longer to get going.

This is absolutely fantastic news for Nick. There has been an increased focus on the mental health of players recently, and it certainly helps their wellbeing when they have the choice of playing for anyone other than norf. It is a shame that selfish norf posters want to force a young man to play for their club against his will, just to try and give themselves a bit of a boost

Can you change my settings so I can like this twice?

They're living proof that having a gun forward doesn't make them any more exciting anyway

Justifiable disappointment and anger on the North board as well as a lot of midget brained vitriol about Nick and about the Swans.

Bit rich when in the same draft North will be gifted high pick Tarryn Thomas from Tasmania who in all honesty they've had almost no input into developing as he was already a gun footballer when they were gifted their Tassie academy.

Nice that Nick has chosen us and that it's been announced early.

I hope Norf fold before Brown's career finishes. He seems a terrific bloke and is clearly a gun. It would be fitting if he had the opportunity to play at a decent club before he hangs up his boots.

Despite what #lolnorf fans may think, young Thomas is not an indentured servant. He may not nom to play for Norf.

Aye MxM. The future also includes a few pesky crumbers like Paps and Ronke mopping up the spills at the feet of the big blokes.

The mids will inc Heeney, Mills, Lloydy's little brother (if we are lucky), Hewett and Dawson (if he comes on).

All in all, not a bad base for the future.
