22 point domination...

Because if that's the result when Collingwood are dominating nearly every aspect of the game; I'd hate to (love to) see it when the opposition team matches or even betters them in those statistical categories.

That's we way we've played all* year. Suffocation by domination.
When we do it well we win and when we don't we lose. It's how we play. No different to any other side really.

If this is how Cloke, Macaffer and co. kick for goal in a H&A game, then how do you think they'll respond in a Grand Final where the pressure is even greater?

Well I assume at worse they miss, like they did tonight. Hopefully they'll do enough.
Like they did tonight.

And you're kidding yourself if we can't. We dominated tonight in every stat apart from goal kicking.

Had we kicked truer it would have been a 10 goal win!

How much better do you think you can play?

May I add that we were down to 21 men after 15 minutes of the game....

Herein lies the problem. Several of your players have shown a bit of a mental weakness
(as well as techincal problems in kicking) in front of the big sticks; most noticeably your key forward, Travis Cloke. You're kidding yourself if you think the good kicking can just be 'switched on' in a final. Obviously Geelong aren't without deficiencies in this area, but they've won 2 flags in the last three years and have players that are proven performers in finals.

Lol at the Pies fans who're acting as if they've just won the Grand Final. Yes, it was a good performance but too many people are overestimating the importance of this game imo. Sounds obvious but September is when it really counts.
After last week your fellow Merger Demons were talknig about how many premierships you're going to win in the next 5 years. I would say no Collingwood fan thinks we've got the flag sealed, I myself still don't like our inaccuracy in front of goal. But FFS, let us enjoy it at least for a few hours.

Why Geelong haven't beaten a side inside the top 6 yet. That's the form of out in straight sets.
They're basically 2nd on the ladder because of their easy draw and feasting on weak teams at Skilled Stadium. That's a 2010 fact.

I guess collingwood wasnt a top 6 side in round 9 :S Collingwood have the easiest draw.. how many times do they have to travel in a year? Thats a known fact any year!

Fair enough points. I suppose we'll have to see how it pans out in September. Certainly the Pies are a genuine premiership chance and it will be interesting to see how the other sides attempt to beat their game plan.

I wouldn't say the flag is Collingwood's to lose like someone said... a long way to go before anything is decided... the key to tonight was gaining confidence and the win should do that... should've ended the game a bit more lopsided on the scoreboard based on possession and control of the game... however, Geelong are a quality team and it took them no time to kick 4 goals and hit the front at the end of the 2nd... Wellingham and Didak were brilliant

oohhh got me, Geelong have had 1 victory against a top 6 side this year.

You going to come at me with the draw when we've had clearly the hardest draw in the league this year and Geelong as reigning premiers seem to have escaped with one of the easiest.

Why oh why, do people never learn, something about writing off Geelong in August vaguely rings a bell?

Make no mistake, that was a 10 goal thrashing disguised as a 22 point win.

Geelong could not have played better, had their obligatory 10 min burst of 6 goals, Selwood had his standard number of high tackles, kicked the ball with high precision, but were dominated.
LOL mmm cocky Pies...

Very true. This all seems very similar to last year.... Geelong haven't played a good 4 quarter game for a long time, which was required to beat Collingwood in their current form tonight. Collingwood won the hard ball and generally worked harder when the ball hit the ground... that was the difference. Geelong's best was not on show tonight. Anyone who has seen enough of Geelong knows this.

No doubt that finals footy is a totally different task. Being the reason the Grand Final is often lost by the side who won the equivalent game in the H&A season. Collingwood fans have good reason to be excited, but teams typically don't usually hold red hot form for 5-7 weeks.. and both Geelong and the Saints will be difficult to beat come September. Interesting finals series coming up.

One thing is for sure now! It's reached the stage where if Collingwood don't win the flag, there will be a hell of a lot of dissapointed supporters out there.. :D

gf here we come for both of these 2 sides for mine. but there won't be much taken out of this game for both teams imo

I would think any team that loses the grand final would have a lot of disappointed supporters,,,,one thing is for sure that collingwood will go in with a lot of self belief,as gee long led by ling are starting to look old and slow, they were played off the park tonight,don't@let the scores fool you, that was a comprehensive 22 point belting if there ever was one,,you only play as well as the opposition allows you:)
Winners. =. Grinners:thumbsu:

Wow, you must be a genius.

I guess if Geelong don't win the flag then the supporters will be pretty happy.
